A successful dental practice owner is characterized by their ability to balance three major roles: clinician, entrepreneur and business manager. They always look to expand and improve their clinical skills, including their ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members. They set both short- and long-term goals, and ensure their practice is well-organized and stays informed of current industry trends. Successful dental practice owners empower their teams through training and performance recognition. They conduct regular evaluations to stay on top of their practice's performance and celebrate their team's successes. Finally, successful dental business owners have a clear company "vision" that provides direction, inspires employees and influences how customers perceive the business.

Nevertheless, denture wearers do need to be proactive in taking care of their dentures and oral health. Follow-up visits to the dentist are essential to ensure good fit and function of denture prostheses. At least once a year, the overall health of the oral cavity of a denture wearer should be professionally evaluated. Through ongoing evaluation and maintenance, modern dentures can last 10 years or more, before a reline or replacement is required.

(more) I certainly appreciate all the feedback this question about the safety of dental implants received here on Alignable. With so many dentists now placing implants, the rate of complications has increased, and the safety of dental implants has become a major concern. Patients and dentists need to know the potential risks, so they can take steps to improve their odds of success with dental implants. It’s important to identify any risk factors before implant placement, select a well-trained and experienced clinician, make regular follow-up appointments, and practice good oral hygiene before and after dental implant surgery.

(more) It is important to recognize behaviors associated with fear and to communicate with fearful patients to discover why they are afraid. Patients with mild anxiety may only require answers to questions regarding treatment or simple interventions to help them feel more comfortable and reduce their uncertainty. Those patients with moderate levels of fear may require more intensive pharmacological interventions such as nitrous oxide or oral sedatives. For patients with extreme fear, I.V. sedation is highly effective. With any intervention, the fearful patient should be given a choice. The patient should also be informed of any risks associated with drugs used to manage anxiety.

(more) The cost of dental implants depends very much on the patient. When it comes to dental implants, one size doesn't fit all. Each individual patient is different, having a unique set of dental circumstances requiring a unique treatment plan. There are many different options when it comes to dental implant materials and systems. Of course, costs vary from region to region, and each practitioner has different pricing structures. But to provide an accurate cost for dental implant treatment, a patient must first be examined by a qualified practitioner to determine the materials and protocols that will work for that patient. There are often numerous options available, and the dentist or specialist must discuss each option with the patient before developing a dental implant treatment plan the patient can afford.
