If a client is taking forever to pay, then I would suggest that you change your method of collection.  I don't think it's a good idea to give clients power of your finances like that. Suggestions: convert to a pay in advance system or pay in installments where the work doesn't begin until the installments are paid, or pay half down and the balance is due thirty days before you release the project. Put these terms in your contract.  Hope this helps.
