About Us

Looking to control, even lower, your group health insurance costs? Contact me. - I'm a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) who has distinguished himself in the brokerage community by having his work written up in "Best Practices in Compensation & Benefits". I regularly create tax-advantaged health care solutions to help bend the cost curve.

Practice Focus

Certified Employee Benefit Specialist - ability to provide companies with health and welfare benefits in key underwriting and compliance issues; i.e. 1. what they need to know regarding the ACA, 2. how to structure plans using HSA/HRA to lower risk level and increase tax efficiency, 3. how insurance carriers underwrite, 4. evaluate PEO services, 5. DOL compliance and the importance of SPD & Wrap Docs. (25 plus years experience)

PEO vs. Insurance Market - Trying to decide if a PEO is right for you company? If yes, which PEO is the right fit for you? The goal is to first help you decide if a PEO is the correct option for your company. It’s never always yes or no. If yes, we help select and then place/onboard the right PEO. If not, we place you in either fully- or partially-insured health plan.

Tax-Advantaged Healthcare – Several funding options exist under the tax code to allow employers to reduce cost.

Compliance - ACA will bring an increase in DOL audits. Are you ready?

I think most of the answers miss the question, which is: "should" they be extended access. - Group plans are less expensive ( I read one reply that said otherwise, that's true if the individual is receiving a subsidy, but those are lower income earners). Multiple Employer Welfare Accounts (MEWA) or Association Health Plans (AHP) are possibilities that if managed properly "should" work for the benefit of those companies (employees or sole proprietors) grouped together. - The response required to explain the problems from past MEWAs/AHPs is to lengthy for this environment. - My answer is "yes" with the caveat that they are properly managed and regulated. And that's another lengthy discussion.

They either are or are not. -Look at their life outside of your employment. Are they motivated? If not, they may never be. If they are, why? What motivates them? - Accept the reality they may never be motivate in your world? Maybe in any world.  (more) They either are or are not. -Look at their life outside of your employment. A "wellness based" approach allows all to participate. Faith based limits group opportunities. - FYI - My son, college student in CA, is enrolled in a medical sharing plan. Much better option, coverage and cost, than was available though our medical carrier.

Obviously you need to review your annually in preparation for your renewal. Beyond that adding specialty programs, i.e. ID theft, pet insurance... - off renewal can help bring attention to expanding your benefit program. To often companies pack everything in a one hour meeting that overwhelms. Employee Benefit Advisors’ goal is to help you decide if a PEO is the correct option. It’s never always yes or no. We help place companies in a PEO for the short or long term and we help companies come out of the PEO market.
