I'd suggest reaching out to old clients to let them know that they are still around, offering safe and healthy options for the new Covid norms, what they are doing to address any concerns about Covid, and go from there. As a web designer and optimization expert I'd also suggest upgrading their web site to be a bit more modern, mobile friendly / optimized, and have a notice about what precautions they are doing to ensure safe events.

Word of Mouth. Tell everyone you know what you do and what you offer. Check in with your current clients to see if they need anything.
Network with others when you can to get the word out about your services.

I'm curious about late fee's. Nothing was mentioned in the referring article and I've seen a number of sources say that it's not a great idea to charge one but I'm curious how many others charge for a late fee or at least threaten to.

Like others mention, I'd go with someone that knows online marketing and not a web hosting company that also offers SEO. Many times SEO from those types of companies are very turn key, automated, outsourced, and not very effective. It's best to go with a local SEO expert or a known provider...

Many times SEO from those types of companies are very turn key, automated, outsourced, and not very effective. It's best to go with a local SEO expert or a known provider that has good reviews.

There's many affordable ways to improve the search engine rankings of your web site but there's a ton of factors so it's not a clear "just do this" type answer.
If your web site has a blog it's good to keep adding new posts to it and promoting those posts anywhere you can on the web. Also make sure to keep adding new content to your site that's unique and well written. Copy and pasting from other sites won't help much.
Depending on how your site is made and hosted might affect how easy it is to make changes and what changes you need to make. Looking more deeply at your site and your target keywords would be necessary. Also off page factors can play a big role in giving you good rankings as well.
Since there's a ton of factors and varying competition for which search terms your marketing towards, there's no one answer to move you up in rankings. There's over 200 factors in which search engines use when determining rankings for a particular keyword. My simplest and best advice is keep adding new content and promoting it how ever you can.
We help small businesses get good rankings so if you need more help please feel free to contact me :)
