I am a licensed massage therapist with 15 years experience. My clinic is located in St. Matthews, and I also travel to the client's address upon request. I specialize in customizing the massage to suit the client.

I enjoy helping people experience relief from pain and discomfort. I established my clinic so that the community could get a reasonably priced massage without having to travel.

If I wanted to get rich, or even to get comfortable, I would not have made the deliberate decision to build a five-star spa in a small town. Every business owner is different, but my decision to open this business was not based on being properly compensated. Having taught in the public schools for over 20 years, I am very used to working hard and not being properly compensated!

I use a topical level III CBD oil. It has been infused with camphor and menthol, which creates a temporary anesthesia on the surface of the skin. I use it in my massage practice with great success. One day my roommate, who is a CNA, told me about the residents at the convalescent center and their arthritic pain. I made up some cream for her to take to work, and she said the residents on her wing slept like babies! I also use it on the soles of my feet at night, then put socks on. It helps with pain, inflammation, and sore throats and general malaise.
In order to make it convenient for all of my clients, I use Venmo, Cashapp and Square. While Cashapp is owned by Square, if you are willing to wait 2 business days for funds to become available, there is no service charge. With Square there is a charge, but if you have a diverse client...

In order to make it convenient for all of my clients, I use Venmo, Cashapp and Square. While Cashapp is owned by Square, if you are willing to wait 2 business days for funds to become available, there is no service charge. With Square there is a charge, but if you have a diverse client population then you know that there is no one system that will make all of your clients happy. I only accept checks from long-standing (5-7 years) clients. As for people who complain about the transaction fee associated with Square, I prefer 97.25% of the money while making it convenient for my clients. Otherwise, I can have 100% of zero dollars for being a bullhead.

No one is rushed, quality oils and body butters are used during the treatment session, and everyone is treated with the utmost respect.

We are all familiar with the adage, "the shoemaker's children are the worst shod." It is not physically possible for me to give a proper massage when I am not well rested, am not in a good state emotionally, and am not eating properly. Giving a good massage starts the night before. I do not have a television, a cell phone or any other electronic device in my bedroom. My bedroom is free of clutter and dust, and is a relaxing, tranquil haven. My shoes, which are laden, quite literally, with the dust of the world, are not stored in my bedroom or in my bedroom closet. I rarely eat out, my food is prepared fresh, I do not drink soft drinks, caffeine is limited to one cup (if any) per day, and I use environmentally friendly containers. Burning sage, copal, palo santo and other incense helps to achieve balance in my home as well as my clinic. Negative people have either been eliminated from my circle, or are dealt with as little as possible. I lift up and celebrate others, and always show gratitude. Blessings to all who read this.

Several years ago my personal life and my professional life collided when my life partner almost killed me in a domestic violence case. Because I work in a conservative community, I was made to feel that it was my fault, and I was almost terminated. It has taken a long time, but as a previous person stated, I dusted myself off and continued to do my job. Hang in there, do your job the best way you can, and they WILL find another tidbit to talk about. I support you.

I have always been the queen of having a plan B. As a full-time teacher, I have a state job with medical coverage. This means that if I ever have a slow period with my small business, my basic bills are covered. As a licensed massage therapist, I have work every day of the week. It took several years to get to this point, however; before that, I had a housecleaning business. My advice: become so versatile that no matter the state of the economy, you always have a way to provide for your family. I pray that all who are affected by the shutdown get relief as soon as possible.
