Hope you wouldn't mind my two cents and my own assessment of Yelp reviews. It came from a long history of battling Yelp on my own terms to no avail. Just to make it simple:

Hope you wouldn't mind my two cents and my own assessment of Yelp reviews. It came from a long history of battling Yelp on my own terms to no avail. Just to make it simple:
1. Yelp filtered half of my legitimate customers that gave me stellar reviews even after discussing with them, they did not help or showed willingness to help. They conveniently blame it all on their algorithm as no human were behind their placement of reviews.
BUT, intetestingly,
2. When there were reviews that were unverifiable (not from true customers) or that they were from competitors even, and I would flag them, Yelp would singlehandedly decide that these scammers were legit and that they deserve to be left alone, often on my first page.
3. For 3 years, Yelp would have their agents contact me numerous times and harass me although I told them if I didn't call them, they should not call me. They do not have the courtesy of leaving my business or myself alone. In one day, I could get 5-8 calls from the same person, depending on the degree it aggression per individual agent.
4. Yelp lied that their service would help with business return on investment. I feel that their business model is completely backwards as they prey on desperate owners as myself with the promise to gain more businesses and therefore revenue. In actuality, their practice would hurt vulnerable businesses to become a further target of cyber bullies or vindictive consumers that have an ax to grind due to unfounded and illegitimate reasons. I made suggestions to Yelp representative that they ought to consider charging the consumers for VOICING their opinions instead of business owners paying on their behalf...
5. Yelp conveniently hide themselves behind machine voice prompts and inexperienced, flight by night, young and inexperienced staff- with no real world business experiences- to address concerns and to interact with business owners.
I suppose the list can go on but I just pray that this behemoth of evil could cease to exist someday.
