The customer already know your products and services. With the help of their smart phones, the Millennials can pretty much get unbiased information at their fingertips and compare you to your competitors. Naturally, your experience based on the number of years in business, getting involved with higher level organizations, track records and awards will no doubt help your position. However, if you have the prospective customer engaged on the phone or one on one, perhaps the focus should be asking what the client is trying to achieve and if your response is clear and unpressured, I believe you can win them over to your side of the court.

I do not believe there exist a free platform for a small business to report payment history of their customer base to the major credit reporting agencies. However, if you really need or want to have the ability to report payment history of your clients, Experian as well as Equifax and Trans Union, requires that you pay a monthly fee to be a subscriber. In addition, a subscriber is required pay an uninterested third party (EOscar) on a quarterly basis to verify your information when a dispute arise. To subscribe to all three the cost can run a minimum of $750 a month. In addition, your company will need to be in compliant with the Fair Credit Report Act. Unless your cleaner is highly profitable and can absorb the extra warm body to man the reporting and verification of disputes, then your client will love you for the added service. However, for a tight margin business like ours, this entire exercise is undoubtedly cost prohibitive.

I believe offering a 10% discount on referral is a good way to generate new business. Not all customers will have the coupons given 6 months down the road to redeem for their next service. However it is the gesture that count and it extends a conversation. I find that if I offer to be helpful, it keeps me and my company in the mind of the customer. Just by being reachable and handing out a business card with a good contact number is a good practice.
