I believe staging both improves sales and increases the value of the property. If the home is occupied I've found a home stager can come in and organize the property and give it a much cleaner look.
If the home is unoccupied then a stager can bring furnishing to enable potential buyers to imagine how the home could look with their furniture. I've also worked with stagers that will sell the furnishing along with the home.
Staging definitely brings value to the home.
I would also provide a plan on the avenues you will be using to market their home to maximize the offers. Other than listing the house on the MLS, will you be sending flyers to renters in the area? Have you considered having the buyers meet with a stager?
