It sounds like you filed your tax return, claiming your son as a dependent. When he files his tax return, it is rejected because he was "already claimed on another tax return". To "unlink" his return from yours, you would need to file an amended return, removing your son as a dependent, and probably paying back a $500 credit that you received. Your son would then need to prepare his return, and paper file. This will be a lengthy process. Sometimes it is worthwhile to seek professional help with these things. I hope this helps.
