I'm an actor and a film and tv director and producer. Everyone deals with stage fright. Actors do, presenters do, event teachers. I have many years performing on stage and screen and I've always had to deal with a little bit of stage fright. I know many actors who have given incredible performances in front of huge audiences or have been shall we say sans clothes in a film but are afraid of public speaking. Public speaking is a skill like any other. Certainly being comfortable with your subject matter is key as is knowing your specific presentation, but learning the arts of bringing the room into tune with you and befriending your audience are also critical. Knowing how to speak clearly and your timing, what plays well and what doesn't. I recommend that all business people take classes on public speaking and get practice in front of a non judgemental audience with a coach. Not a bad idea to learn a little about acting either. Ive trained extensively as an actor, had decades of experience working as an actor on stage and in film and tv have directed films, series commercials and marketing pieces with both professional and amateur cast and ALSO studied the art of speech making. I lecture frequently at film festivals, science fiction conventions and comicons and I really enjoy it. At first it was nerve wracking, now its a joy.
