In my professional opinion there are a few factors why your site may not be converting as you desire;
1- Money Keyword Terms
Just because you have traffic coming to your site, this does not mean that it is coming from "money keywords", assuming that the traffic is coming from Google and not ads. There can be many variations of terms that people will use to find the product that you are selling, so you need to make sure that you have a large amount of terms that you are ranking for in Google so that consumers can find you. If you do have a wide variety of terms you are ranking for, then you may need to do more keyword research into your niche for better terms to use.
2- Sending Qualified Laser Target Traffic To Your Offer
If you are using ads to send traffic to your site and offer, then you are most likely sending the wrong type of traffic to it. You simply need to do some niche research and focus on those types of people who would be searching for your products. Also setting up your campaigns properly after, having optimized the campaign correctly to get the best ROI out of it is essential to making a profit.
3- Site Layout, User Experience & Mobile Optimization
If your e-com site isn't created for a good user experience, whether that is in regards to mobile optimization, layout and how easily and quickly the site gives the consumer the information and ability to make a purchase easily and fast, then you will have a lot higher bounce rate and they will go to a competitor, especially if your site's pages aren't properly optimized for mobile devices, since over 85% of all searches are done on one in this day in age. We are used to getting the information that we are looking for instantly, if we can't we simply move on to where we can, and this holds true especially for online purchases.

2- You should consider reducing the amount of times someone has to click on a product before they can purchase or put into the shopping cart. I would suggest having the product details and info on the 1st image so that if and when a consumer clicks on it, it will be to purchase.

I agree with some of the previous answers below, especially when deciding if you are running a business or hobby since the ultimate goal is to create more sales, conversions and gaining good leads, not necessarily engagement.
Optimizing the campaigns in a specific way, and yes using video does convert higher and is a better overall strategy, but you should be looking at generating leads that can turn into sales rather than engagement percentages as you can gain that from proper and regular posting on your page.

IF you are not aware of what is currently working in Google, then you are not doing your clients any favors, so I would definitely keep that in mind.
Other than that, I also think it is a good idea to find someone who compliments your work, or has the skills that you lack, so then together you make a great team.Try to always think of what would help the overall system to help the clients in the best way possible. Do your homework and find someone to team with that can add to your skill-set to ultimately help the clients.
