How do you handle employees who are consistently late arriving to work?

I will usually ask them, why are you late most of the time? If it has to do with a family member (child), I will ask them to put those challenges in the planning time. If it's because they feel their job isn't important enough to be on time, then ask them what time works for them. If that time works for you, then they have no excuses for being late. If it doesn't then explain, you will need to cut by their hours. The bottom line is, you have a business to run! You've chosen to make a financial commitment to your future and family. So, why would you allow someone to put you and your family in a position of being disrespected.

Well said Julie. I appreciate your feedback. This will blow your mind, what's even worse, the one or two who consistently do this only live one mile from our facility! Our other workers who live 20-40 minutes away are always on time or early! It makes no sense!
