About Us

Hello, I am a retired homicide detective with over 33 years in law enforcement. I am also an internationally recognized expert in the field of stalking and threat assessment. I am a consultant for OVC, (Office for Victims of Crime) and the National Stalking Training Academy in the
United Kingdom (which unfortunately lost funding). I recently became an expert consultant for the charity, Action Against Stalking, Scotland. I consult for radio, television, and print media as well as write books and papers on the topic of stalking designed to assist stalking victims. (I currently am profiled on Reelz TV-Stalker Files, concerning the Christina Grimmie murder as well as the Michael Douglas Stalking. You can also find my interviews on the topic of stalking on the Circle of Life program, hosted on Youtube, and Facebook.) I also train, victim advocates, law enforcement, health care providers, as well as educators on the phenomenon of stalking. For additional, please go to my website, www.detectivemikeproctor.com.

How We Got Started

While working as a homicide detective, in June of 1991, I became involved in the second stalking case prosecuted in the US, or for that matter anywhere else. From there I began consulting, lecturing-both to law enforcement and others who were becoming more aware of the issues that stalking generated both in the area of business and the medical profession, as well as writing about the stalking phenomenon. I was considered one of the pioneers in stalking investigation, and developed a detailed protocol on how to develop a stalking case for successful prosecution at time of trial. This protocol is being used all or in part by law enforcement in the US and elsewhere. Initially, I along with some of my colleagues who were just getting into this new area of criminal behavior; were the consultants for California's POST (Peace Officers Standards and Training) that developed the first training video
and workbook on stalking. From that, the consults started coming in.

Because my wife and I live on the lake, and have water toys, we are frequented by three out of four of our kids, as well as three of our five grand-kids. So in between writing another book, and being inundated with family, I get to occasionally sit out on one of my balconies with a whiskey or two and watch the ducks, geese, pelicans, turtles, hawks, and turkey vultures as they either float or fly by usually on the calm glassy waters of the lake.  Now, don't get me wrong, I would love to get back to teaching and more consulting, but if this is the way I have to get through this pandemic, I am blessed to do so. For all of you folks out there struggling, God Bless, and "this to will pass."

I do utilize YouTube, and will probably have a Podcast out in a few, but I leave Twitter up to the President, and I am probably not sophisticated enough for Instagram, and the other I call Face-plant. Oh, well, one of these days I might get tech savvy, but I doubt it because by the time they are ready to cook me off in the furnace, tech will have doubled or tripled, not allowing me to get any closer than I am to figuring it out. In fact, if I didn't have kids, I probably couldn't have even responded to this request.

I later found out he was charging me a 2% fee. Left him. Currently, I am with a firm that only charges me when I make a transaction. They do not charge me a damn thing on my portfolio, which is currently primarily in double tax free bonds, like many firms still do. It does not make sense for an investment firm to make money on the funds I invest with them that they loan out and reap benefits; especially bond funds that move much slower than those funds that hold stock.

Even though I formerly retired as a homicide detective in Nov. of 2004, you quickly find your work is never done. The department's tentacles, always seem to find you no matter where you hide. In April of 2018 I was asked to present another of my cold case homicides to the newly formed Orange County D.A.'s Cold Case D.A. for filing, and was then asked to come back to work as a civilian investigator to investigate other cold cases. What you have to understand when it comes to marriage, I am not domesticated, I am institutionalized, and my wife is the WARDEN; therefore, I am not going back. However, she does allow me to teach and consult; as well as continue to increase me expertise in the area of stalking. So I guess you could say, that I have been fortunate to have a career that I have never considered to be a job, EVER. The reason I still love what I do is because, while having fun, I still get to assist those in need.

Most of the time I did most of the repairs on the properties, but when being a cop started taking up more of my time; i began subbing out the jobs. However, my first remodel on our first home together, I became the owner builder on the house; used subs recommended to me by others whom I trusted, but still build most of the house myself with the help of relatives. Currently, we are building a large home on a lake in Texas which has forced me to rely on a general contractor. My advise to any new home builder or re-modeler is: Do your homework on contractors, ask people who have used him, check references, make sure his license and insurance is valid, try and see some of his work, get good quotes on prices, and hold him to same. Be on the job site as much as possible. As I tell folks be a parrot on his shoulder. Those going into a build, I wish you good luck, and try and do as much sweat equity as you can to save money and learn.

So, just for giggles, I will tell you a story; especially now that I hail from the great state of Texas. During a recent sermon in a small West Texas town, a huge specter arose behind the pastor causing both he and almost all of his congregation to flee many screaming at the top of their lungs, "its the Devil, it is Satan." However, in one of the back pews sat an old Texas rancher. He was calmly leaning back in his seat with both of his elbows lying atop the back of the pew, with a toothpick hanging out of the side of his mouth, and his Stetson slightly down over his face. When the huge, dark, ghostly figure rose up above him and grumbled; "why aren't you running like the rest, don't you know who I am?" The grizzly Texan pushed up the front of his hat, spit out his pick, and while looking up at this monstrous form towering over him, stated, "Yeah, I know who you are, but seeing as how I married your sister, I ain't much worried about what you can do."

So as for 2019, I will be doing the same as all the years of my life, SPENDING MOST OF WHAT I MAKE ON KIDS.  (more) I already, helped one of my kids get into a new Tacoma, another a new closet re-build, another with new flooring, and another with new tires and rims.
