We are craft wine, however, same principal as the craft beer industry for finding customers. Our best approach is to find groups of people and offer free samples and group discounts - ie: running groups, salons, work places. We usually do up wine with a custom label and deliver them. It's amazing how little business we get out of social media these days. Social media, emails, etc are good for follow up sales once a relationship is established.

We are not in the craft beer industry. Social media has worked well for us.

I am owner of a retail liquor store in the State of Arkansas - have a huge craft brew selection which we have on a pick a six aisle where customers can make their own as well a cold in our coolers - we also have a growler station where customers can buy 32 and 64oz growlers of craft brews as well.  As far as B2B we pride ourselves in supporting charitable and non-profits from our area - feeling that retailers should support the communities in which they live and work.  B2C is done by extensive customer service and social media.

After being in the B2B sector and working with craft breweries, wineries, cideries in both NA and LATAM over the last 15 years in dispensing and packaging, I can honestly say that the most effective tool is still face to face interaction. That allows you to connect on a much deeper level and develop a long term business relationship and not just a transactional one. Call me old school, but annual guilds meetings like trade shows and conferences are a great way to meet the people you’ve been e-mailing with over the past year, share a drink and have open conversations about different industry topics or happenings. My advice to anyone new in this game is to be themselves, genuine and true. Try to genuinely help a potential client by providing a solution to their problem or reffer them to someone that can help them. Make the connection and collaborate if possible! Regardless if you use the online medium to generate leads, I find that in order to nurture a healthy business relationship the face to face interaction is needed not only to put a face to the name but to connect on a deeper level of understanding.
