Back in the day we use to advertise in the yellow pages, news paper, magazines, Billboards, radio and TV. So how do these things stack up now in the 21st century? Think about it when was the last time you bought something because of a TV. Commercial or radio add? Read the news paper much? Look @ the yellow pages? Or do you do like 90% of all Americans and look it up on the internet? If so you may want to be on the first page of a search for anything you sell or any service you provide. Or you won't be getting the business you would like to see. I Hate to say it but people want the information quick and easy. Then like the rest said do the job right and you will get referrals. Ask yourself this, Where do I go when I need goods or services. Where do I find what I need or at the very least where do I start my search?
Do quality work for your existing customers at a fail price and you should have all the work you need. Doing little extras, at no charge, is my marketing budget.
There are several resources you can use. We utilize Home Advisor for about 2% of our business. We utilize Houzzfor about 20% of our business. We utilize paid Google ad words as the majority of our business.
Have you looked into the SBDC PTAC at UTSA Downtown? Have you also looked into the Hispanic Contractor Association (HCA)? You need to network with the right organizations. Next Monday and Tuesday there is an event in Irving, TX. that there will be a lot of vendors from State, Local and (I think) Federal, looking for vendors. That may be something you might want to consider. Get yourself in the right groups and organizations that will put you in with the right people and the right types of buyers. Good Luck!
Be sure to join your local Homebuilder's association. That gives you credibility. Plus I suggest joining a civic organization like Rotary to increase your visibility in the community. Also, we are building Little Free Libraries for our community to increase awareness of our company.

Building relationships and following through on time commitments, that results in repeat business every time! Those customers then can recommend us.

Depends on what type of contractor you are / service you do.
Often Google AdWords is the best for majority of things centered around residential remodeling.
What's better than to set a radius location target and be found by the people that are searching for EXACTLY what you do?
They're in your area and searching for your service.. if done right nothing works better than this.
The other way to start is to find referral partners that would also be working with your potential client but don't compete with you.
