Do you agree with this quotation?

If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you'll achieve the same results.

-Tony Robbins

I agree with the quote, but I would replace the word "copy" with the word "model".

What do you guys think?

I agree, but don't take it so literally, take it in the context in which he was saying it. Tony wasn't talking about copying 100% of another person's actions for yourself, he was talking big-picture about modeling successful behaviors from people who have figured "it" out, whatever "it" is for that person. This is pretty obvious, isn't it? Of course there are certain behaviors that winners (or losers) exhibit that we can take examples from. There are absolutely recipes for success, and for the opposite. Everyone is an individual, and no two situations are alike, so you learn from other's successes and mistakes vicariously, incorporate what works, and develop your own blend.

For the folks saying "no", how is this any different from a younger sibling copying their elder's actions? Or, reading a book from someone teaching us about business? We're constantly learning from others, copying them to some degree, and making value-based decisions about the things we're willing to do in order to be successful.

Well, it is difficult to quote someone unless you quote them.

Your actions can copy someone; they can emulate them; they can model after them; and, just about anything that in your mind, says you are achieving the goals of the one you wish to be like.

the quote begs the question... are there other variables to success? of the top of my head, there is luck (right place right time), network (who you know), and charisma. I am sure there are others.

It should be ‘model’

I agree that "copy" is the wrong word to use. Model or, even better, integrate and then  make it your own.

I totally agree with model not copy. Invest in other peoples investment of time and information. Succeeding in anything is very much about trial and error-learn from your own errors, learn from others who've left maps for you to follow.

I agree with Matthew Stark, there are other factors that contribute to the success that should be considered. We are all unique and our own journey toward success will be different from others.

I agree that you should model what they did, but add your own style.

Yes i agree with the quote and change the word copy to model yes
