Small business Saturday is tucked between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It really has been overshadowed somewhat intentionally by the mass marketers.

Small businesses should be shopped everyday

The biggest complaint I hear from people that have notbern in New York in several years, is what happened to all the great small stores we used to have?

I offer relaxation and mindfulness tools for people who want to be more engaged with life with a sense of physical and emotional vitality that is infused with mental clarity.

Small Business Saturday doesn’t highlight my business but people sure do get stressed about their sales numbers, shopping lists, family gatherings they want to go to and those they don’t!

That’s why I create my FREE “Get You Through The Holidays” yoga nidra recording.

So no Joanna Small Business Saturday does not help move the needle.

Moving the needle is up to me.

I am not in retail provide a service targeting the homeless, underserved, and lost population. Our services collaborate w/other community agencies and faith based organization to provide housing, food, clothing, substance use, and mental health issues. The holidays and winter months are the hardest times for this population.

Small Business Saturday seems to be important for small business retailers rather than service providers.

We’re not even a year old, but are hoping for increased traffic in the Cave and Boutique. Come check out our amazing boutique prices!💫

First, there's Black Friday. Fair enough. It's fun and probably grew out of the need for people who didn't want to watch football to have something to do with their family that's in for the weekend.  Cyber Monday?  Ok. Fine. If I'm inundated with cheap deals and reminded it's coming for weeks in my e-mail, I'm likely to shop.  Buuuut... Small Biz Saturday? I had to look it up. I'm not getting my hopes up.
For starters, there's only so much Thanksgiving trope energy out there. New marketing holidays are only going to water things down. But more importantly, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are all about the customers. Sm.Biz.Sat. seems more like a charity-type of holiday, like Secretary Day. I doubt it would catch on unless buyers felt like there was something in it for them--not them just throwing us a bone.

Build your content on short Burst's, most people will look at an ad or read about 3 seconds.

It seems that in times of extreme social engineering and social compliance folks get tired of ANY marketing attempts or hyped up hot air sales..... quality, consistency and good old referral basis might be the key in the future?.... just my 2 cents

Like so many other sales and promotions, Small Business Saturday is more of a gimmick than a strategy. If we offer a product or a service that is reliably better than our competitors, we will have long-term success. The reason the big box stores do so well is that they sell cheap stuff. Period. They beat the prices of the little guy. Whether they do that through shipping discounts (buying in bulk) or through getting their goods from a sweat-shop in Asia, the Mom-and-Pop stores cannot compete unless they re-imagine themselves and offer higher-end products, locally made goods, more knowledgable staff, and better service overall.

Small Business Saturday is a national shopping day which takes place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Its participation and revenue have grown in the BILLIONS. Those with local storefronts will benefit the most. If you're a business owner and Small Business Saturday isn't your cup of Joe then go shopping instead. Support your local businesses.
