Do you know how to check the standing of your website and the traffic that it's bringing in?

I just signed on a new web design client and for the umpteenth time learned that, like so many entrepreneurs, she has no idea whether her existing website is performing well or doing her any good, though it's been up for years. If you're like her, please let me know. I'd like to get a better idea of how many smart business owners are out there who are at a disadvantage by not knowing how to check their site's performance. I'd be happy to offer a free 15-minute phone tutorial to show them how. No obligation.

Google Analytics is great and easy to use.
As an owner of a web design and web hosting company. All of our clients have access to their hosting control panel to see the statistics activity, page hits, and tracking reports the amount of hits for the month, day and hour of activity. Although its a good statistics software nothing adds to what is really needed. Which is "site to customer conversions". Taking action to find out how the client found your site which leads to either make a direct call, purchased a product from an eCommerce cart or signed up to your mailing list. Without that conversion you're wasting valuable dollars on creating and having a site hosted.

Although there are many clients whom simply want a website as their electronic business card with a contact form and that's fine as well. We always embed the code to enter the first, last name and email to their mailchimp account for emailing campaigns. When we bring on a new client for site development and hosting. We always setup a google analytics account, a mailchimp account and link it to their existing social networks accounts as part of our proposal for services.

In all reality our clients have no clue and rely on our services and knowledge to guide them through the massive open space of the internet. Many claim and start out as " I want to maintain my website and get customers myself attitude", but after a couple of months they forget to keep up and it falls to the back burner and slowly dies out or they reach out to us to get them back on track. I always say, " You do what you do best and leave your web business to us." Once they realize the benefit of what we do versus our pricing model its a win-win.
I sell custom rear window murals, specializing in military pride murals, all over the country. How do I search Google without only getting results from local, and how do I make it so my site is not included in local only? I want my site included into nationwide search results, not just local.

Google analytics will give you the information you are asking.
99/100 times if the client does not know how there website is performing it is doing very poorly.

I would be interested in the free tutorial.

First, what is the main objective of the web-site?  Can customers actually purchase from the site?  Is there a form to request more information?  Or is it merely an on-line brochure for the physical location?  As their consultant, you need to guide them through the process of WHY they have a web-site and what action they want the customer to do once there.  Also, is the site clean, fast and easy to navigate?  Don't worry too much about driving traffic until those questions are answered.  After that between Google Analytics or on-line vendors like Viamedia, can help track activity.
