Do you know how to check the standing of your website and the traffic that it's bringing in?

I just signed on a new web design client and for the umpteenth time learned that, like so many entrepreneurs, she has no idea whether her existing website is performing well or doing her any good, though it's been up for years. If you're like her, please let me know. I'd like to get a better idea of how many smart business owners are out there who are at a disadvantage by not knowing how to check their site's performance. I'd be happy to offer a free 15-minute phone tutorial to show them how. No obligation.

Knowing how to read the analytics is very important! Bounce rate will tell you how a specific page is performing. How long the visit or duration was on that specific page.
there will be another Google analytics if you’re doing PPC. This analytics will show traffic and conversions.
you need a consultant for all of this. I would never deal with Google direct.

I agree with David Miles.  Sign up with Google Analytics - it’s a free service and will track your visits and what was viewed.  As a disclaimer GA will call you to offer additional annual paid services but their free services work for me.
Tracking your website’s traffic flow helps you to get a better idea of its commercial success and serves as a perfect indicator of your marketing efforts. While there have been a lot of discussions lately about how much traffic a website should be receiving, online marketing experts stand unanimous about the fact that there is no ideal number that can be followed by all websites to determine their own commercial standing in the industry. This agreement is based on the essential reasoning that when it comes to determining traffic scores for websites there are a large number of variables involved. These variables can be as diverse as the company’s size, its niche, product and service demand as well as its marketing strategies wherein each of these components can influence the site’s traffic score in various ways...

You are right. A well designed website could be a plus but that is not what most of us into business for. Just like there is a difference between marketing and advertising.
For those who grew up in tech websites may seem a cinch?  But I did not go into business to monitor a website. There a thousand things to being successful and web design is just one. The most important metric is converting clicks to cash. Do you guarantee that?
I created a website through Vistaprint, I can track traffic on website.
I use iPower for hosting and all you do is log in and they have reports that give you this info...ie. unique visitors, hits, number of pages, etc. Perhaps some people have access to this but don't understand it.
90% of all website developers know to include either a counter on the site or a login capability.  In a lot of cases developers might tell you that people will leave your site if they have to login, in some cases true... We would set up a disclaimer on the site letting the viewer know that we do not share information or sell information and that we are only looking for follow up for interested parties.  There are also features on most platforms that can track each page that is visited, hence allowing you to know what the viewer is interested in.

Yes I do because of our increased sales due to our trustworthy, past recommendations and confidence knowing that we will be there for the future when you will need us for anything else you may want for your family's protection and valuable memories!!
