Does it pay off to join a local Chamber Of Commerce?

As you already know, the main purpose of any local chamber of commerce, is to protect and promote the local business community, with its primary goal of helping business owners expand their network.

So, before you consider spending that discretionary income on buying 100 lottery tickets, or tossing them on a club party, consider using that money to join a local chamber of commerce near you.

I/we’ve joined the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber (SSPC) and, IT WAS A GREAT DECISION. However, I would like to have your take, in terms of what was your personal experience in joining a local chamber …

Why I am asking/suggesting this (especially if you’re a small business)? Well, there are quite a few reasons, some of which I will mention below:

  • You’re provided with multiple networking opportunities, which could generate new connections,
  • While exchanging ideas, referrals, and recommendations, you’ll foster & boost your credentials,
  • It will increase your exposure and relevancy, especially if you’re looking for a B2B environment,
  • As a member, you will get discounts on everything from office supplies, to continuing education,
  • You may get certain email lists, as well as first dibs on booths at trade shows and other events.

*Certainly, there are many other benefits than the ones mentioned above, but I just mentioned a few …

** If you are willing to invest some of your money into the stock of ”Opportunity,” rather than that of “Security” then, … joining a Chamber of Commerce is definitely worth your money and time invested …

*** According to a study conducted by the Schapiro Group, 49% of consumers were more likely to think favorably of a local business, if it was a member of the local Chamber, and 80% were more likely to purchase a product or service from a Chamber member.

Dan, you stated the purpose of the Chamber of Commerce correctly. However, your question now has to be addressed not as an organization,C.O.C, but as to what their political desires maybe.

Originally the C.O.C, did just that, help all businesses that came to them. This is still true in many smaller communities. But even the small community has been effected, by the social acceptance of the Political norm. It is this mind set that turns the moral and ethical purpose of the C.O.C, into a bed of Political chaos.

For those questioning this, just look back at this country in the 50's and early 60's and compare it to now. When we are honest with ourselves and stop being a political mouth piece, we can see the core problem is the loss of the moral and ethical guidance, this country and its government was founded and built on.

So to answer your question, we all should ask ourselves. Do we believe the C.O.C is operating as an moral and ethical source for helping business? Or are they just another finger of the political chaos that is destroying this country, our communities, and our way of life.

Let us remember this country was founded, because people came seeking a place of moral and ethical judgment and justice, so they could worship God,the Pilgrims which lead to the founding fathers, without the persecution of political chaos, the governmental chaos and corruption of England and Europe.

Food for thought, Political chaos is nothing new, it is as old as man. It has taken many form through the centuries. However, in its purest from it is nothing more than the lust and desires of those who wish to control, everything and everyone. The more power they get the more power they want, and the people pay the price. They achieve this by corrupting the moral and ethical foundation of the individual, the family, church, community and country, usually through fear or killing hope. All so they will accept anything they are told, keeping the individual lost in the dream of the chaos of lies, so they can take it all.

The sad part is, this can only happen, when we will no longer act toward each other, in the moral and ethical judgment of Love for our fellow man and stop believing in the justice and equality of all. What we sow, is what we reap!

Yes! Our networking organization provides access to valuable resources, discounts, and relationships that help businesses save money and market their products. Joining a chamber of commerce can boost sales and significantly improve a local business' visibility and credibility.

I would say, ask the Chamber President this one question: What will you do for me if I join? And let the answer guide your decision.

Absolutely, The more people that know who you are and what you do the better off your business does. When you join a Local Chamber, you participate directly in your community. Do it with the intention of improving your community and you will get noticed in ways that you did not expect.

It pays off to join ours, called The Freeport Merchants Association. Our dues are low and the value we provide is exceptional.
