I am a Realtor and own a Property Management company. I have seen a huge increase in the rental market, (as high as 30% increase in rent, year-over-year), due to the high demand (people can't afford to buy) and low inventory. Affordable housing is non-existent in Hawaii. I feel bad for the younger generation, who have no choice but to live with their families or live in a multi-generational living scenario. In Hawaii renters are accustomed to this and the high cost of living. Many people have left Hawaii, the No. 1 most expensive state to live in. Instead of helping out the locals, our congressmen and Senators have made the situation far worse for our Residents. Another problem Hi has is that our state is very corrupt, we have gov. officials with zero accountability, who only care about "climate change", social injustice and gender identity! Really? Does anyone care about this when you don't have a roof over your head, or are unable to feed your family? Why is our homeless population increasing?
To go from the world's best economy in 2019, energy self sufficient and thriving to this is stunning!
In the world of real estate, buyers are on hold. They don't feel comfortable with high interest rate and prices. Prices are coming down a bit in mid range properties..new construction is doing spec.homes and reducing prices. Several have backed out of deals. Sellers are still.slow to list. Rents are sky high. Lots of fear.
Our business has suffered because of high costs of living. We had to up our prices because of the crazy orders of this current admin in our Gov. Closing pipelines and all our natural resources on the 1st day of office, higher tax rates. Our feed bill tripled as well as our medical costs. Our customers are having a hard time as they are regular working class, can not afford gas or groceries so a much slower rate of sale here. It is criminal what this Gov is doing to this country!
Watching the news is like a stand-up comedian act. One says "well, the market is suffering with the war, gas prices, etc., we expect a decrease on the economy performance...". The next guest indicates "well, the numbers are getting back to normal, the labour market is performing well, and we see positive signs...". It is actually a bunch of arrogant and faking expertise people, having their 15 minutes and hopping to get lucky... The best thing is to ignore the TV news, especially the financial portion, and take care of your business.
It's great to have someone from the " Small Business World " that can understand the issues we face in the day to day operation and survival of our business.
My current challenge is to convince our clients to pay a little more for American rebuilt toner and ink cartridges that are excellent quality instead of buying the cheap Chinese Clone products that cannot be recycled into any other use.
By the way, many don't realize that OEM Manufacturers such as HP,Lexmark, Canon and others use cheap Chinese Labor to make their products but charge the American consumer top dollar.
Priceless has a better alternative and you'll save a bunch while supporting American Workers. xxx xxx xxxx
Do you really think this past month was little inflation? Construction costs continue to rise. Gas is still outrageous. Employees want more money to help pay to fill the tank. What world are you living in? Come take a look at working class America.
Your lead in for this survey is just wrong. If I ask you to carry 500 pounds on your back and today I lower it to 450 pounds you could say the load is lighter. We are in a recession, two consecutive quarters of a decline in GDP has been the definition for many decades. It's just fact.
Small businesses are struggling, there is always a case to see some improvement for some types of business, however, the overall picture of the economy is very concerning.
Very poorly worded survey. You’re looking for sensational results.
On top of that we will now have 86000 new IRS agents looking to bleed you dry.
