Virtual Office Management Exposure: How do I get the word out to businesses without sounding like a sales pitch?

I run a virtual office management and accounting business. In a nutshell I do your office work for less than hiring a full time employee and free you up to do your real work.

Yet everyone appears confused by this. How do I get the word out to mom and pop businesses where they understand without sounding like a sales pitch?

Send me a proposal. I just sign up for a phone service. We might be able to outsource some work to you. What is your average monthly rate for the least service you provide

Dawn,

I must agree with Maury.  I like his acronym however I tend to sum it up in one word, BRANDING!  If I were to ask you the question, what is your BRAND, what would you say?

Also, be careful with being too soft.  I did visit your website and can offer a few suggestions privately.

One last tip, if you do Virtual Office Accounting, how much does this save the Profit & Loss statement over an Office Accountant?  When you figure this out, you will know who your target audience really is and address them with your findings.

Good luck, keep up the passion.

Hi Dawn,  It's really important to connect with people and gain trust.  Even in a virtual position where you may never meet them face to face.  You have to have something in common just to start a conversation and then from there it can really take time for a business owner to trust you.  Referals are an excelent remedy for this but that doesn't help when you don't have any yet.

Do you have a niche narrowed down?  Narrowing down your marketing to an industry that you know well, or are passionate about can help with your first step - starting a conversation.  Also, even though your a virtual worker does NOT mean you can't work locally too.  Getting to know your local businesses and meeting people face to face is the best way to gain trust. Once you get a client or two, if you serve them well, you can get a referal and that should get the ball rolling.

Wishing you the very best.

Amanda

Good work Dawn.  That is the first step in knowing the value you will bring to the person needing your services.

I had also asked you what is your BRAND?  This is important.  Brand is what you stand for, what is your purpose, what is most important to you and your business.

I can feel from your website that you have a BIG heart.  You care, however there is no call to action, nothing that compels me to look deeper.  Your research can help you with this in a way such as; "We will save you 30% (or whatever it is) over what you are paying now, and you will get MORE from us than any accounting service..." because of your Brand.

Just trying to help, it's what I do.

Hi Sunny, Hope you are well. Let me hear from you.  Sincerely, Ilene
