To me ANY kind of 'NO' means they didn't really understand the information I was giving them.  So, I will ask them a question or two more with the thought in mind to get them to ask me more questions and go from there.  Sometimes, they just have to mull the information over in their minds more while conversing with their spouse or friend.  Always be professional and understanding in your body language and tone of your voice.

a strong no, I  usually say okay, can I contact you at a later date?  and a weak no, I will usually ask if we can have coffee/whatever and go over my catalog to see if there is something missing that is in there that they would like
