What kind of interview questions do you ask applicants?
I am not a fan of the trite interview questions that have been around for 50 years. I feel like people have developed cookie-cutter answers to things like "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?". I'm looking for suggestions on questions to ask that really help you gauge a person's personality, drive, etc. Thank you in advance!

Abilities are learned and gained, character, now that’s where you find a great employee.
One of the questions that I usually ask to potential employees is "I'm getting a lot of applicants for this position...tell me why I should hire you over the other qualified people " usually takes them a little by surprise and give me insight into the real person across from me.
How did you hear about us? How long have you lived where you live. What are some of your interests? What do you like to do in your spare time?
Well because im in the cleaning field i ask questions are specific and investigative also. I mean this is your business so whoever you elect to hire will be a representation of you. Set a standard and have them uphold it to the fullest.
Tell me about the last self improvement book you read.
What capabilities do you have that you believe will help you become successful in this position?
The answer to this question will determine if this person is the right fit for my business and my team.
Always ask "How much do you know about our company?" And what are your strong points that would benefit your job in addition to your work experience.
Would you rather be a jack of all trades or specialize in one? Why? There really is no wrong answer here but it'll show you their personality and a peek into where they are going into their career.
