What would be the best way (other than offering a first free session) to get people to try an alternative healing modality that is not main stream?
Such as, in my case Metaphysical Anatomy Technique, which is a psycho-somatic method to process, and complete trauma that is held in the body.

When I first started I offered super cheap sessions with poor results. This was combined with giving presentations to explain what I had to offer. It didn't work until I raised my prices. Then the clients started to come. People seemed to realise if I was charging more, my services we're worth more. Good luck
Be clear in layman's terms, what does it do for them? How does it change their lives? How is their life better? What pain does it heal? Be clear on benefits always. I've been in the alternative treatment industry for decades and I don't know what "psycho-somatic method to process, and complete trauma that is held in the body" means.
When it is a newerish type of modality, you need to aim at peeps who are already in the alternative universe. Trying to sell to someone that needs convincing is near impossible. Aim for the customers that are already in your sphere.
Look for health fairs or even organize one yourself. Are you friends with chiropractors or acupuncturists? Talk to them to see if you can host a fair at their offices, look for other people to fill out the fair with complimentary modalities.
Start a blog or use social media to talk about your expertise. Share what you know and what your work does for people.
I don't advertise. I think, as others have stated here, maybe a live stream speaking about your modality and getting in front of small groups are good. Education and communication about what you do is important. Personally, I don't offer new client "freebies". I feel that clients need to be vested in their wellness.
Find venues where you can speak about and demonstrate your work. Target audiences that are open to innovative modalities first. When more experienced with presenting your work, you can tackle the public at large. This includes YouTube, etc. You can always offer an initial “special price” session coupon with your brochure or card so they can get in touch with you after an engagement
With intimate personal work, meeting you and referrals from people they trust are most important to a future client.
Trading with those in complementary modalities, massage, healing, astrology also offer new referrals. And you get necessary self-care, too. Exchange of some kind is valued more than “free”. This is a whole topic which I discuss when mentoring.
Good Luck as you share more good with the world.
As a specialist in the alternative therapy field, let me give you these tips. The first thing you want to do is gain trust with those that know you and that could be by giving something of value or perceived value to the potential client. This would be knowledge in your case. I would consider the use of video in your marketing, but not your average type of video. Get behind the camera and try a unique approach. The other thing is to get real testimonials of people who have benefited from your modality and get them on video. Start to develop great content that targets the user's mindset. There's so much you can do that could take a long time to write, but if you would like some free advice, just message me and I will be happy to chat with you.
here's an article that may help a little

You are in an area where there is a large "non-mainstream" population, so that is a big advantage. I agree with Maury. You have to identify the problem you are solving for people, tell how you are solving it, and let them know how their lives will be different after working with you. Your search words have to be relevant to the issues you address, with the answer being something they will see in those important 30 seconds they scan your info.
Is there any quick demonstrations you can do with this. Perhaps something with muscle testing that will show the subject a change. With hypnosis and NLP, there are several techniques I can use that within 3 minutes they feel a positive change in some way. This is a good 'hook' for me. is there anything you can do like that?
I offer a Complimentary Consultation with discounts, especially this time of year. I also offer a guarantee! I get to the root and the cause so dissolving the blocks and obstacles that have you stuck in your life.... I specialize in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Women who struggle with panic and anxiety. It's a huge problem with 42 million people that we know of suffering and 72% are female. Contact me now! I work internationally.....
If you do public speaking, I would introduce the technique to a captive audience of people that would benefit from it. Be sure to:
- educate and provide useful information that speaks to your ideal clients pain points;
- if possible, demonstrate a shortened (yet still effective) version of the technique on a volunteer. Be sure the volunteer is a good fit for the demo.
- or, since it’s a psycho-somatic technique, perhaps there is a piece of the technique that you can do with the whole group so everyone can get involved (for example: maybe there is a meditation piece)
- get a measurable testimonial from your volunteer and have previous testimonials available for your guests to hear about.
- no sales pitches, just facts.
Offer a discounted introductory rate for attendees and offer refreshments and perhaps have a raffle for a free session so you can collect more emails of people interested in your service.
Stay in touch with your email list.
Good luck!
Warmly,
Tina Dowdy, CLC, CCH, LMT, CYT
I offer a free 45”-1’ Consultation to meet me and it’s designed specifically to inform the client of the benefits of my process.
95% of clients who come in for a free consultation commit to at least 5 session or more.
I show a short video, which allows me the time to review and assess the diagnostic forms I’ve asked them to complete.
Then, I ask them specific background questions so I can make a treatment recommendation. I also answer any questions they may have. For most people, they just want to feel safe and understand how the process might work for them. It builds trust.
I explain payment, hours, etc., and we schedule their first 5 sessions.
