Would you recommend Google Ads to a divorce attorney?
Is Google advertising a good idea for an established divorce attorney who is already ranking high on Google Maps and local keywords?

The top 3 ways to get business online... SEO, PPC, EMAIL. It is always worth it do start and end with the numbers. For example, I have an attorney client that spends $2500/mo. on adwords and last 12 mo averaged $10k/mo. in closed business. Can you spend it elsewhere and get better return? Maybe. But you should track it then decide.
Sometimes ppc just doesn't have a place in a business's model. You need to evaluate how many more conversions you can gain by paying for advertising.
Notice I said conversions and not more traffic or more clicks. Generating those are easy- you just throw money after them. Crafting ads that convert and split tests are the key.
There is also a Star Rating Listing for Attorneys in Googles PPC advertising models. Youre best bet is to contact your Google Adwords rep and investigate how much more you would benefit from paying for more traffic.
Hi Chris - We like to think of a search engine results page as real estate. Almost every family-law related keyword returns a map listing, so you're commanding a very important portion of that real estate if you're present in the map pack and organic listings. However, especially on mobile devices, a lot of searchers don't scroll below the fold. Every expert study tells a different story about the percentage of users who click on ads vs organic results. Some will say 5-10% of searchers click on an ad, while others estimate the number is in the 20-30% range. Regardless, by not investing in ads, you are missing an opportunity to put your business right in front of searchers when they're searching highly relevant queries like "divorce attorney." We've found PPC to be extremely effective for family law attorneys if the campaigns are set up well (i.e. you're using negative keywords properly, you're investing in high conversion keywords, etc.) We've also seen that being present in ads increases click-through-rate (and subsequently - traffic and conversions) on organic listings. That's essentially because they've already seen your ad, so if they scroll past it and see your organic listing or map listing, there's already some form of familiarity.

I would as AdWords is usually the fastest path to growth, but you have to approach it very, very carefully. Attorney keywords can easily cost $100+, so you'll want to do everything you can to make every click count. I outlined a couple different attorney marketing strategies here, if you're interested in reading more: http://about.spatially.com/blog/suggested-googl...
I would create a campaign of press releases that targeted all of the long tail keywords so you can take a firm position on the top and cement the #1 status.
You will also add credibility and high value content that could tip the scale towards your business. Dollar for dollar, it's an efficient tactic for an established business. I have seen #1 rankings with the ad sitting right on top of it and I think it's a waste of money.
Once people start seeing your name everywhere, you'll have no need for Adwords. It has the same effect but with professionally crafted 300-1000 word releases, you will bring in hyper-targeted clients.
AdWords rates in your category could be pricy. If you are already ranking well, take the concept out to the rest of the Internet with site, search and keyword contextual retargeting programs. Happy to provide more details if you are interested.
Here are a couple of additional points that have not already been made. To reach the entire market, you need a strong organic ranking (unpaid, SEO) and paid ads. Why? Some people ignore organic rankings and will only click on a paid ad, other people are the reverse. Then you have to consider that the quality of a visitor generated by an organic search result is higher that the quality of a visitor generated by a paid ad. For example, an organically generated visitor will read more pages and spend more time on your website than a paid visitor, plus the bounce rate (one page and out) will be lower for an organic visitor. If you decide to go with Google ads, it is vital that you test multiple ads and focus the messaging on pain points, not legal services. I can say this with a lot of confidence as I have spent the last ten years making a lot of money for lawyers. I rest my case.
Never ever use them!!!! I once paid for “click” advertising -only to discover my wife to be at the time -from Nepal - had an arranged martige to a man who owns a company that google had hired to sign up new users emails in my town on yahoo n aol type free email sites then paid them 1-3 cents for each one - after they used new fake email to click my ad and charge me the 1.37 a click that I agreed too! Fuckers are evil and steel steel steel - true story stole my money n I got scammed - they proved on international platform years ago that “ LYING IS NOT ILLEGAL” stay away from spending any advertising dollars - better to target market clients with specific lists based on psych profile and needs of clients...
Truthfully??? I wouldn't waste my time or $$$$. Maury Kosh is right. If you do not have the perfect website, or use the absolute right words or follow instructions or listen to instructions you will be like, I'm assuming based on what I have seen, done and heard, 80% of the "cash cows" out there doing business with Google.
There are 2 things you would have to do:
# 1. If you are not IT or website or Google savvy then you will have to hire one of these marketing companies to handle this for you. That costs lots of money.
# 2. Then you have to create a budget based on how many calls you can afford at the bidding prices. As Maury told you they are at around $75.00 per. You have to pay this for every call you get even if you do not get the business.
A billboard would be cheaper. Have magnetic signs made for your car or just have your car decaled.
Most people are going to google or yelp thru their phones anyway and if you are in the top three just under the paid ads and have a 4 to 5 star rating...people will call and it won't cost a dime. If you do a good job and have decent pricing you will get referrals from old clients. Don't spend $$$ unless you have to. Hope your office is in an area that is easy to find and has a large visible sign. Have the sign blink in color. Red and blue attract the eye. We are locksmiths and like you we are needed mostly when they are in trouble or have been in dire straits and want to prevent the occurence again. Of course we can help in other times too like re-keying homes or businesses and programming the new cars' transponders or make keys for locks when lost or stolen. You are a very special needs person. Your due diligence, your professionalism and your compassion with decent pricing will get you more clients in the future. Keep it up!
