How We Got Started

I began my business offering bookkeeping/payroll services to small sole proprietor or partnership businesses as well as Independent Contractors. Over a period of time, and after volunteering with VITA for several years I realized there was a need for quality and affordable tax services in my area. I added these services and became an Enrolled Agent and am now qualified to offer not only tax preparation, but also tax resolution and representation services.

If they are paying strictly in cash, if the employee files for anything it's a he said/she said situation. Very difficult to prove. Another reason could be they are under-reporting their own income, so they don't want these expenses on the books. Even if a 1099 is not issued, it's still the person that received payment's responsibility to report the income on their taxes. They should be depositing the money into a checking account when it's received, keeping some type of log or record of when they were paid, how much, by whom and for what job. Something to support the income (and if any, expenses).

When I'm out and come across something I'd like to look further in to, or possibly buy at a later time, I ask for a card. I'm not going to remember the persons name if I don't.

Have I actually obtained a new client because of being BBB accredited? I have no idea, but I do know people look.
