Realtors, what type of closing gifts do you normally do?

I own Cole & Bennett Modern Gift Baskets and we're launching card services, a new line of realtor closing, list and mini referral thank you gifts.  Wondering what you are doing now and if you feel its effective.

Although I now coach more than sell, during my selling career I loved to create value and memories for my customers.

For buyers, I would always leave a surprise "move-in day" basket on the kitchen counter. Basket included all-purpose cleaning spray, sponges, paper towels, window cleaner, bathroom cleaner, toilet paper (got more "thank-yous for TP than anything else!), floor cleaner - and a coupon for pizza delivery.

Their "closing gift" from me was always a house-warming party. (Hint: always left with new clients!)

For sellers, I threw them a "going away" party for friends and neighbors before their listing went live (Hint: same results as above!) and presented them with a bottle of champagne and photo album from their party at closing.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

I am not a realtor but we like to show realtors how to show velocity banking to their customers which is how to pay off a 30 yr mortgage in 7 to 10 years.  If they do this with all their customers they will soon become the top realtor in their agency.  Ask me if you want to learn how.

Well, since this is the biggest purchase of most peoples lives, I don't go cheap.  Although gift baskets and wine are nice, I listen to my clients and ask questions while touring the home they want to buy. For example, if we are outside on a nice deck and they say something like "oh this is perfect for a BBQ", I ask if they have one.  Another instance is that if they want a yard, but don't have one, I know they will need a lawn mower.  So BBQ's and Lawnmowers are just a couple of items that I have bought for my clients as closing gifts.  Get creative and it will leave an impact every time they use them :)

My last closing showed me I am doing the right things with respect to my clients. They brought me a gift. I give them gifts for each referral they give me. I give them client appreciation event invitations and pies at Thanksgiving. An agent I admire in the business said it best, clients do not work with you because of a closing gift; they work with you because you are great at what you do and you help them find the place they will make memories with their families.

Custom pen & ink drawing renditions of their new home. It's personal, it reflects the event, lasts a lifetime and can be framed to suit the homes decor. A local in town is fabulous.

For my closing gift, I try to find an interest that my customer has or determine something needed for the home. Gift Baskets are my favorite "Thank You" for referrals, preferably delivered to where they work, to encourage other referrals.

I give my clients Buyers and Sellers things I feel they would enjoy.  Sometimes it is a gift certificate for Dinner or a Gas Card for the move.  Other times it is a personal item for the new home with their style in mind.  I don't like to give the same gifts to everyone.  Everyone is different and so are my gifts.  I put my heart into serving them and their needs and do the same with the gifts.  I hope this helps.

Personally I have a cutting board.  I like it and clients always find a good use for it. I presented with some cheese and wine. In a corner of the board my information is printed.  No matter where that cutting board ends up, my information will be there.
