Realtors, How Did You Get Your Name Out There and Grow Your Business?

I have done a great deal to generate leads. I am going door-to-door, attempting community outreach, and buying Facebook advertising. I have yet to see the results I'd like. What did you do to grow your business that created results for you?

Hi, Sarah - I found decent success working with people who know me. You arent' going to get much sitting around the office waiting for the phone to ring. Get involved in your community. Attend Chamber of Commerce and raise your hand when they need help. No matter what you are involved in, be it church, your children's school activities, etc... Give your time. People want to do business with professionals they have common interests with. It does take time, but in the end you will have earned the loyalty of past clients and they will be your referral base.

I find that making sure to check in with contacts on a regular basis has yielded me the best results.

what is the best number to reach you,I have some great strategies you can use.

Sarah, you are on the right track. It takes time to build relationships. If you keep doing what you are doing it will eventually pay off. Also, I built my business by joining networking groups and having 1-1 meetings with as many other business owners as I can. I focus on how I can help them grow their business. Make it about them, not you and good things will happen.

Best of luck to you!

Just about anything BUT real estate related. Support and participate in community activities, sponsor things like school and community programs. Talk to people, briefly, about what you do, but focus on who they are and what they do.

In the beginning years as a real estate broker, I sent out announcements to my sphere of influence. Try to come up with at least 100 names and let them know what you are doing and how they can contact you. This was the start of my data base.

Then I started doing open houses, I focused more on location than the house itself, and held them during peak traffic times to attract buyers. If you do not have listings, I am sure someone in your office would be happy to let you hold their listing open. Put prospects in your data base and then begin a drip marketing campaign. Call or email and even send hand written notes to make contact on a regular basis. Not everyone will buy or sell but you are referable, these people become advocates for you.

It takes time, in addition to these things a good FB presence is very helpful and if you can solicit testimonials from people for your page that is great!

Get a mentor, not someone to shadow but someone who has success and will let you run ideas past them and share pointers over coffee. The synergy and support is always helpful.

Perseverance pays off, do not become discouraged it takes time!

Best wishes, success is right around the corner!

You need to identify who you are, what market you're going to target and what niche you want to squeeze your personality into. I think the agents that brand themselves and do a good job at it, have fun and are successful. Now I am not saying you need some expensive marketing company to brand you, but you're going to need a brand of some sorts. Especially if you're going to have fun and enjoy your work.

A Brand is important and lets people know who you are and also lets them know what it is you care about, even if you're on vacation on some exclusive dude ranch riding cows or on some pink beach drinking those sweet fruit drink with umbrellas.Your clothes, transportation, music and everything else makes a difference. Your online, pictures and habits are all part of any brand. All social media including agency, resume, mission statements are all a huge part of branding. Small companies, one man services even the largest companies need branding more than anything to make them go the distance.

I do logos and branding, design and print marketing material and help people find what that brand is. I take into account everythingand even dig deep down inside you to find those deep hidden secrets that make my job fun.No, but I do get a feel of what you are and who you are and try to help you.Because what you are and what you look like are super important not only on the outside but on the inside. The fact is even if you don't want to be part of a brand you are going to be, so you mind as well make it work because it's the one thing you do have control over and you can tweak it to make it work. You may not want one, but you have one. Even if there were no such thing as the internet you would still have a brand.

Some simple rules of branding.

•It should improve recognition of who you are

•It should create trust between you and your customers

•It should back you up, like when your off drinking those drinks

•It should build your value as an agent, and I do mean $ value

•It should inspire you and your customers to buy or sell

  • Lastly your brand should help get customers

Anyway, if you want some help just call me.We can go over what the best approach is. There are simple solutions that do not cost a much.I am always here working.

I buy the little calendars that you stick your business card to. Offer to hold Open Houses for other Agents if you have no listings of your own. (Try to stay in homes priced under $350,000 or you are just bringing business to the Listing Agent. (Totally my opinion). I pass the calendars out at Open Houses, give them to friends, family and clients. They cost less than a dollar each, plus the cost of your business card. This and being out and about have brought me lots of business. I tried massive mailouts sharing costs with Lenders or Title Companies. Not nearly the results. Good luck.
