About Us

Pascal Burke Insurance Brokerage Inc. ( pbibins.com ), our knowledge of the products and the marketplace we serve is unparalleled. As former contractors, we know the construction industry from the ground up! We work with our insureds to increase their professionalism, and save them from claims that can be simply avoided.

How We Got Started

The founder and President, Pascal Burke, began his knowledge of construction in 1974 as an architect’s apprentice from the age of 15 to 22. Though eligible for his architect licensure, he wanted to build. So, he then joined a large concrete company, building parking structures and major sports stadiums. After a few years he started his own construction company specializing in parking structures until 2005. While running his business he purchased every manner of insurance policy and surety bond to properly cover his assets. Shortly thereafter, he was hired by an insurance company to be on the board of directors for a new contractor general liability program. After gaining 4 years of experience, he opened his own insurance brokerage specializing in construction risks.

So, who do you want to purchase your insurance policy from? A sales jockey who could not spell insurance 4 months ago, or a broker who has lived every aspect of construction like yourself?

Its because any lawsuit could mean the business closes. I know it sounds harsh, but it is the reality. It's not only the claim amount, but the legal fees, court fees and everything else would add up to an amount most businesses don't have behind them. Depending on the risk factor of the business, they should most definitely get an insurance policy.

A professional liability insurance policy covers common claims like errors, omissions, negligence, misrepresentation and inaccurate advice. It will also cover violations of good faith, fair dealing and any legal charges, in case of a lawsuit. Example? A Realtor sold a property after getting it appraised. Later the customer claimed that the property was worth less than the appraisal done by the Realtor. The policy will cover the legal costs. To protect yourself and your company from issues related to errors and omissions, which can happen to any service provider, professional liability insurance is mandatory.

It needs to be simple, so everyone who reads it can understand what you're asking them to sign, yet comprehensive enough that it includes the pandemic. It would be most useful to hire someone who has experience in writing waivers, so that the wording does not contain loopholes which can be damaging to you or your business in case of a claim. Its treading on thin ice with the pandemic coming back over and over again with variants, but you must try and be careful about it.

Strict SOPs must be made and followed through. Safety must be the number one priority. You cannot control the location or the industry you're in, but you can implement safety protocols to save everyone from physical and financial damage.
