I hired Home Advisor for over 6 months to see how well it work for me. Overall I spent over $400 and never got one solid lead or sale. I later found out that they sell the same lead to at least three contractors with no guarantee whether your are able to meet with the client, you still pay for the lead. When I told them that I decided I was no longer interested in using them for obvious reasons, they convinced me to accept 8 free leads to give it another chance. I got 4 more leads, still no results, no sales. I then received an invoice for the 5th lead. I explained to them that I was issued 8 free leads and shouldn't have been billed. They said that those leads expired and I had to pay for the 5th lead. I disagreed and had proof in the emails which were sent back and forth.
I argued with them stating I shouldn't be charged with leads where I never even to to meet with the customer, but they disagreed and said that's their policy.
They finally stopped trying to bill me. In my opinion, this is not a good deal for contractors, but great for Home Advisor selling the same lead to multiple contractors.

You can imagine, that after 30 years, many of our customers have new projects and by staying in touch at least bi-annually, they remember to contact us. They are also responsible for bringing in many of our new clients by referring my company to their friends, neighbors and local relatives.
We like to hire carpenters who actually enjoy their work, so one question we like to ask is why are you a carpenter? The answer we like to hear is, "I take pride in my work and like to show the customer that I'm a true professional". If I don't have to motivate an employee to do a good job due...

The answer we like to hear is, "I take pride in my work and like to show the customer that I'm a true professional". If I don't have to motivate an employee to do a good job due to the fact that they take pride in their work, this solves half the battle!
When I first started the company over 30 years ago, I delivered flyers door to door in various neighborhoods where I knew the homes were showing age and needed repairs. We also were involved in many local "home shows" to get our name out to the community.

These people generally have seen our work and know how our owner operated company work as well as the tight communications we maintain throughout the project.
