Does Hiring Independent Contractors Help Your Business or Hurt Your Real Employees?

Some things to think about -
* Do your employees have that skill set?
* Is this an ongoing skill need or just for a particular project?
* How much control do you need to handle this situation? If your employee can do it, you can monitor the progress much better. If no employee currently has that skill set, can it be taught to get the work completed in a timely manner? If you hire a contractor, make sure you are very clear on the result because you have little control on the method. That control belongs to the contractor.
* Take time to look at all your options. If this need is not constant, would a temporary employee be the answer?
