When giving a quote, is it better to have the lowest price or to have your prices close to everyone else's?

Being too low might seem you are not a quality shop. It is difficult to turn work down, so what I do is offer a discount off the competitors price, if it looks like you will lose the sale. It is difficult to turn work down, so what I do is offer a discount off the competitors price, if it looks like you will lose the sale. Another idea is to sell the job, not always the price. In other words, explain all the steps you will be taking, then offer a price.  Really enhance the explanation of what you will do, and mention QUALITY products. NOW, if customer thinks it is too high, still, now you can determine the real price you had in mind, because you are starting high. You can always come down, but never go up. You must SELL YOURSELF and your quality of work before the price.  Social Media will get you customers.
