Many bars and restaurants are still hesitant to adopt new tech due to cost or complexity. What do you think holds most owners back from embracing innovation?

I agree with the other comments, a combination of bandwidth, education, and thinking that new tech will be pricy is holding them back. For example, an extremely easy-to-use app like Scan-N-Order is available. It is a great new type of POS app., but getting the message to restaurant owners is a daunting task.  Open to any help

There is a resource commitment to adopting new technology. Either owners spend their own time or pay someone else to compile requirements and features lists, complete discovery calls and demos, review proposals, make a short list, complete second demos and in some cases third demos, undergo config, UAT, pilot and roll-out of the tech. In the end, you are only mitigating risk because no matter how much due-diligence you engage in, there is always the risk that you end up choosing a vendor thats not a good fit to work with your organization.

Ultimately, there's a leap of faith that needs to occur at some point. Thats why the saying, "no one buys from someone they don't trust," will always be true.

A lot of tech companies talk about features, not results. Restaurant owners don’t care about “AI automation” or “integrations” — they care about full tables, repeat customers, and time back in their day. When they can see that a smart system can book more parties, follow up with leads automatically, reply to reviews, and keep customers coming back, that’s when it clicks.

Possibly, to some degree- to being led by a technology they do not fully understand. So fear and ignorance - willfully or not can play apart in embracing innovation. Then there's the crowd that likes it but is scared to the point of 'I'll wait until others adopt' - that's another quagmire - in objection handling or rather the avoidance of

Saki Melius - good question! Specifically restaurant owners - I think one of their biggest reasons that hold them back from embracing innovation is their focus or rather distraction of the 'small rocks' - some very important, but many not ROI or growth related. Delegating those tasks so the owner can work on moving the 'Big Rocks' - is when they will readily and more easily embrace innovation.

Education.  For instance, most believe switching from single-use plastics to Compostable solutions will be too costly.  That was true until Plastech Products' patented technologies hit the scene.  We work with Sysco, Aramark, Coremark and many other national Food Service Distributors that are thrilled with the high quality and durability of our certified compostable products, given they are at low costs.  Most business owners and especially consumers need to be educated that alternatives work and are affordable.

maybe we should stop pitching magic or guarantee what's in it for them.

Bandwidth. Running a business takes a lot of time and effort. Technology changes typically take away from the day to day.
