Artists, how can I get my art hung in local businesses?
I'm interested in hanging my art in salons, restaurants, doctors offices etc. What is the least intrusive, friendliest, way to contact people? Some artists are cold calling on businesses, but I can't imagine that's a welcome method. Phone calls? Mailing a brochure? Emails? Is there something more creative that I'm missing? Thank!

Find a relevant business to approach, if business and your artwork have something in common.
Just send a flyer and call them. You become a vendor like any other business.
Keep in mind to have insurance for your work and spell out the details on sales, etc.

My experience has been most welcomed when catching the owner &/or manager at a good time in person and being prepared with a plan to help their business. Find common ground with a business/venue that would work well with your style.

Match method with business owners. Old school--print a page of thumbnails along with your card or letter with pricing info (range) and drop it off at the place. Younger owners - email or get text number and link your thumbnail page or web site URL. Follow up once a month or so, even if just to say hello. Be persistent. Be careful of the typical artist mindset--undervaluing your work. Also be realistic--a family place probably won't hang nudes or violent images. (I could be totally wrong on this.)
