I would always recommend a local graphic designer over Fiverr/outside of the country designer. First you support the economy and second they are usually not super creative and you won't differentiate yourself. You can find US based graphic designers on Fiverr though

For very specific and task oriented projects, Fiverr can be the answer. I sometimes use it to speed up the process for tasks with low value or very specific like to vectorize a simple logo.

Most of the logos posted to this thread are not logos and are frankly terrible solutions, and read many of Michael Caputo's posts. He tells it like it is.

A logo is the visual building block of your brand. You may have a concept, but you may want to approach the situation with the blinders wide open. Qualified graphic designers that are brand development specialists are going to be more than $99.00. I believe you are serious about your business, so my best advice is to invest seriously in someone or some firm whose work resonates with you. Choose local if possible, and develop a relationship with them. You will have many other needs as you move forward. Good luck Chelsea.

Please do not use an online service like Fiverr. The right thing to do is search for a graphic designer who specializes in logo design and view their portfolio on their website or online portfolio. You may also want to go to a design or advertising agency. You can expect to spend $250-$600 for a decent logo. The designer will take your concepts, create several designs from them, then develop/refine the one that you like that works the best using professional graphic design software like Adobe Illustrator.

Hello Chelsea,

I am a small embroidery business owner, but I also create logos and business cards as well. This is one that I created for a notary public/loan signing agent. I have plenty more that I have done, however, this thread only allows me to attach one photo

. If you'd like to see more, please email me and we can discuss your ideas. When and if you decide to email, I will also send you my phone number, that way we can discuss further.

Thanks,

Kandyn

It's very discouraging to see so many shout out to dime-a-dozen services instead of supporting professionals who've gone the extra mile to learn the trade and earn respect. This is why so many like me, a freelance writer with 25+ years of experience, are struggling. I can't compete with foreign workers and online sites that deliver something electronically generated. It's sad. That is all. Do what you have to do.

Whomever you decide to choose, make sure it's some one with your best interest at heart. A logo should be something that you take your time with and it should be unique. Not something picked from a group of logos already created. With that being said, here is a clip from a article I wrote on the subject.

The logo is the focal point of these three very different elements that connect emotionally with the potential client, customer or lead in a way that helps them to visually identify

  • Who you are as a company
  • What you do
  • Why it matters

It has to be unique, different, charismatic and professional. It needs to help identify you as a brand and NOT you as a person. The mistake that many people make is trying to show who they are instead of showing the business or service the logo is supposed to represent.

Remember once your logo is developed it will be the one single visual that will be used to represent your company or service and identify it.

People are visually emotional and whatever they see in your logo is either going to lead them to possibly trust you as a professional or totally turn them off.

Bottom line, do your research, do not not rush to your decisions and choose wisely and objectively for your potential clients and/or customers and not yourself. Whether you are creating a new brand for the first time or re-branding this process will help to identify you as a professional and dependable service.

Steer clear of Fiver. Is your business idently really worth so little? The mark that represents you on your website, social media, business cards and every product you make?

A case study from last year. A startup used a cheap logo service and liked the results. The service had done no research. It turns out the logo they came up with was exactly the same as one in use by an existing business, and after a few months the recieved a letter from their lawyers.

The had to start over again, and pay to redo all their print materials, website and delivery vans. Wound up costing a lot more than $5.

Hire whomever you deem best for the job, but please do not use Fivver. They devalue our entire industry. It's the same as using "Legal Zoom" instead of hiring an actual lawyer, or cruising WebMD instead of talking to your doctor. The artwork on Fivver is either mass-produced, or created by people who have zero knowledge (or care) about your business, your industry, your competition, etc. Basically, that artwork is not not tailored to your business. Your brand is your identity... and it goes without saying that your company's identity is worth more than $5. Hire someone local and start to develop a relationship with them. It will payoff more than you realize in the long run.

I disagree. I use fiverr all the time and its great. Most of the gigs offer unlimited revisions and you get the photoshop or illustrator file. Its a fraction of the price.. Awesome talent out there. Not only do i use them for my graphics I use them to help with my wordpress site issues. I always make sure they have great reviews and that have done plenty of jobs.. like 1000+

K1 Creative in Eureka, they did a great job on my logo. I get complimented non stop about it. Wayne Kissel wkissel@k1create xxx-xxx-xxxx. They are skilled, fast and affordable. I have been doing business with Wayne for over 5 years
