I've set up automation with e-commerce marketing campaigns, with email drip campaigns, and using things like Buffer to schedule social media. You can definitely make your life easier by creating content but breaking it into bite-size nuggets that are optimized for each social network. For CRM and ERPs, yes... that's the whole point is that it makes your life easier. Overall though, I don't generally like automation because you lose that human touch which is SO important...
