Why is taking a shower and brushing your hair so important?

Your logo is the first impression most people have of your business. If it looks professional and original, and that effort was put into making it, then people will have the impression that your business works in a professional manner. If your logo looks like a child drew it, or like it was taken from generic clip-art, people may get the impression that the lack of effort used in creating your logo may carry over into your business, and maybe your business doesn't put effort into providing good customer service.

It's all image, you want to present the best image possible of yourself and your business.
You have to establish your brand! A well designed logo will be easy to read, let people know what you do. Make sure it prints well in black & white, and looks good in a smaller size ( think business cards). Proofread, proofread, proofread BEFORE  you send anything with your logo to a printer! They will just print what you give them.
Being a graphic designer I see hundreds a day.  I have stacks of clients business cards in shoe boxes.  I have seen hundreds of designs.  The biggest thing is to have one thing that draws you eye to it.  Logo's do that.  Logo design is what people think of when they think of your company.  Look at the golden arches.
Your logo is your "mark", the one thing that people retain about your company. Without a great logo all of your marketing and advertising is less effective. The keys to great marketing are continual diverse advertising and the audience's retention of your name and message. If they can't easily read your logo or they can't understand what the image is symbolizing, your logo will not easily be remembered. A logo needs to be a clean, clear design that has a composition to it that is interesting and pleasing to the eye. Its importance only goes so far. I think the most important point for a logo is to be memorable and stand out from others. It's not going to be recalled 100% but it does play a part in overall brand awareness.

I wouldn't sweat a logo too much if your business is awesome and you're doing well. It's something you should invest some in but no need to spend millions or even thousands on it. In fact, you can do it yourself as long as you create something memorable. If you have someone else do it then you should pay them what they're worth. You know, there's this thing called being fair to other people and paying them for their time.

A well-designed logo isn't' going to make or break your business. It does play a part in overall brand recognition, though, along with many other factors. So, are you not going to do well without a well-designed logo? Absolutely not. You're also not going to not do well if you don't have a hard-core closer salesperson. Does that mean they add no value? No, every part contributes to the overall business but missing one part isn't going to be the end of it all if you're dedicated to your business success.

Because it's a big part of your brand and can become what people recognize as your business. With the short attention span that people have in these times, the only thing they may remember about your company is your logo. Think McDonald's, Nike, Google.
A well designed logo can communicate competence, intention, and trustworthiness. It helps you appear professional. Whether you intend it or not, every visual choice is communicating something about your company. Are you big or small? Friendly or exclusive? Organized or unpredictable? Everyone uses subconscious cues to size you up, often before knowing anything else about your company. When you accurately present your company in a clear, professional, and compelling way, you will be setting the stage for positive interactions with your company. In short, it is an important extension of your brand.
A logo is the face of a company.  Creating an effective logo requires the support of a knowledgeable marketing company with a solid strategic plan; redesigning a logo after a few years will surely lead to unnecessary costs & lost Goodwill.  A graphic artist is NOT the the first step in logo design; there are critical steps from a business perspective that must take place ahead of graphic design.  Image Headquarters has extensive success in logo development/evolution due to our proprietary process; we have created timeless designs that equate to effective use of marketing expenditures.
Same reason you should brush your teeth and do your hair.  People have to look at you (your logo).
