The Contemporary Elder Institute

About Us

The Contemporary Elder Institute provides relationships, programs, retreats, and practices of higher wisdom that enable exiting or recently departed professionals a conscious and intentional pathway to late aging. A path of choice, not by default. A path of greater responsibility. A path of self-determination.

How We Got Started

The business began when I realized the difference between older and elder. My relationships and apprenticeships with elders followed. My ceremonies with elders opened the higher wisdom and spiritual gates. My purpose became clear - if elders were included, rather than excluded, in personal, business, and political conversations, the world would have greater peace, compassion, and outcomes for the common good.

Uncertainty about the economy, uncertainty about COVID, uncertainty about the geopolitical upheaval, uncertainty about their own mortality. So rather than only focusing on business, my work now includes opening clients' self-awareness of how they are responding in the face of this uncertainty and how they can operate more settled, more ably, more compassionately to themselves and others. So I am creating a better "space" for them to deal with uncertainty.

This means if I needed to secure capital, my EBITDA would not be as strong.  Besides, the criteria for validating the truthfulness of the loan, the fickleness of the government, or worsening conditions, holding out seems for my situation the best strategy.

How I am generating new revenue is by separating a potential client's "needs" from their "wants."  Needs have changed. Once the "need" is understood, then I see if I can innovate a solution that meets their "need."  This new solution is my new revenue source.  (more) How I am generating new revenue is by separating a potential client's "needs" from their "wants."  Needs have changed. So I am looking for collaborative partners willing to take risks to reinvent ourselves to be a new expression in the market.  Therefore, I am only bringing back employees that meet these new objectives. With the right team, I  as the owner am willing to take risks not just based on revenue and sales, but on a team that can work together to figure this out.
