Can anyone recommend a crowdfunding page or any other way to get funding for a documentary?

I need help with funding. I have tried doing booster, Kickstarter, indie gogo and a couple others with no results.   Can anyone recommend a crowdfunding page or any other way to get funding for this documentary?

There are lots of crowdfunding ones but you might look at Patreon.com. It's a bit different. You provide your subscribers with something and in return they pay a monthly subscription fee. I just started and haven't quite finished my profile yet so I'm by no means a good source for questions. Here's the ABOUT page: https://www.patreon.com/about

Your town or city should have an art council. They give out grants for certain art projects. If your documentary has a benefit to society you may have a shot at a grant. There is a lengthy application and you will be dealing with a government agency so don't expect a quick turnaround.

Create a mini video headshot promotion where folks come in for a quick clip, same background for everyone, provide them with a short 10 second script form to fill out, and they pay a set amount, all back to back on one day, set it up so there's minimal or no editing.  For crowdfunding, include kids or a learning program somehow in your project so people can gain life skills, perhaps disabled folks.  You need a hook or an emotive connection people can get behind.

It is going to depend on what your fan base and documentary are about. I would say Kickstarter is the way to go but you need to offer incentives that will inspire people to give

I am sorry that I do not have information for you on this as I have not tried to crowd source a project YET.

I have never done a crowdfunding and I don't really know of one. I am sorry that I can't be of any help.

I see it was already pointed out, but Patreon is a great crowdfunding site for content creators. And lets you see who your target audience is and how many people are interested as well!

I have made some experiences with crowdfunding. There are 3 very important things you should know about it.

  • the crowdfunding platform is doing nothing for you beside being helpful setting up your profile. In the case you don't get pledged with in 48h by 75% of what you asked for your campaign will disappear in the archive and barley people will find you and your endeavor.
  • your campaign needs to be solid. the times were you just sit and talk about your project is over. If you want to impress and get people to fund your project you should be prepared to deliver some kind of movie trailer in the style of BBC Earth or any other movie blockbuster. You need people want to make it happen. If they can get something out of it ( t-shirts etc. ) and they have the impression their submission is appreciated that would be the best case.
  • last but not least. The success of your funding is depending on your marketing. There are several companies on Kickstarter who got funded with several millions of dollars. Cool right? Well FYI some of them spend up to 750K just to market their campaign through professional agencies.
  • Hope that helps ... good luck

You might want to try GoFundMe.com.  I used them several years ago and was able to secure a $2000.00 grant funded by Kia Motors.  GoFundMe works with businesses that are willing to use their resources in helping others.
