The internet has hurt our industry because it has furthered the thought that we are parts changers and not a service industry. The automotive industry is more than changing parts. We service automobiles to maintain their dependability and reliability. Customers tend to believe that the automobile is a simple machine and any grease monkey can fix them, but if the customer could understand the continuous training that must continue in a technicians skill set and the ever changing use of tools then maybe they would be able to perceive the level of professionalism that their master mechanic/technician are at.
The internet is an asset where people can see what you're about and find directions. The problem in my business is when they search for insurance and click on a sight that sells their information to many insurance agents and then they get bombarded with calls and e-mails. The smart ones look for local brokers that represent many companies. When they find us they are very happy! The majority of our business is repeat and recommended business.Your best advertising is a satisfied client.
I feel that it has hurt. Selling health is a difficult task today with so many things in food- the environment and everywhere that are keeping us from optimal health. Working with a real practitioner and some good diagnostics helps the individual get to more balance in their health- the internet cannot do this. Price gauging and the such also doesn’t mean that the products work or breakdown for most people either- and the internet doesn’t tell the full story for healthcare
For the most part, it has helped bring in many new patients. I started using a marketing company called Digi Search which created a new website, a template for patient reviews, and a Facebook page. Since then, my patients have left wonderful reviews about me and my staff. This helps a new person living in the area read comments about my practice. So, I would have to say it has helped quite a bit
It has hurt in some ways, but helped in others. People will generally research online about products, rather than coming in and talking with our knowledgeable salespeople who have between the three, 60+ years of floorcovering experience. And then we have to debunk some of their wrong ideas about things that they have read and misinterpreted. But it gives us a better opportunity to show them why they should trust us when we are so informed about what they are asking about, and can give them reasons why what they think is wrong, and even show them proof. Flooring is a big ticket item, so a lot of thought goes into the purchase, and trust in the salespeople is key. That is hard to project on the internet, but if a person gives us a chance to show them, then they are usually convinced.
The internet has been a mixed blessing...it is wonderful that people can find our company online and they can sign up for a membership and shop. However there are internet companies that are selling the flooring at way below the market value and lowering the value of the materials by selling seconds and close outs as first quality goods. So that companies that are doing business and will only sell top quality goods are being hurt by the undervalue.

helped immensely, more information is accessible & faster.
I have a web design and digital marketing agency, if it wasn’t for the internet I will not have a business :-)
I also use internet marketing to promote my own business, reaching out to decision makers has never been easier.
