I am on the 1st page of Google, Yelp advertising, and Facebook for my business, and have no leads. What else should I be doing?

Am I doing something wrong with my advertising method? I'm on the 1st page on Google, I also have Yelp advertising and a business page in Facebook, but im still home wondering if anybody needs my services!

The sales cycle goes beyond ranking.

The conversion process is critical.

So it is driven by know, like and trust.

Ranking support know.

For the like and trust elements, does your landing page answer the question they are looking to answer.

  • Is your information easy to absorb. Are you text heavy and video/image lite?
  • Do you offer what they are looking for?
  • Do you have a special offer on that product and service?
  • Do you have a good reputation?

Given that only 4% of those who visit your site ready, willing and able to do the transaction, what is your follow up means to nurture that relationship.

When your marketing comprises a full robust campaign, you will start to see a performing situation.

Hit the streets. Join meetup networking groups. Try out your local Chamber of Commerce. Attend local business expos. Make sure you have TONS of business cards. Leave your business cards at the offices of local businesses (I recently found a local car repair shop that has a section of their wall dedicated to displaying the business cards of local businesses).

Talk to the people in your community. If all people see is your online presence, they assume you're "big business" and not one of them. People need to know that you're a local and that you are their peer. A personal touch will help to drive your business. Connecting with other local business owners is probably your best bet, as they will be your biggest referral source. Especially if they've utilized your business and have had a positive experience.
Google, Yelp and Facebook ads are like advertising in the yellow pages.  People look for your service when they need it.  However, these platforms don't create demand or tell the public why they need your service.  If you want to be more successful, you should look at more traditional forms of advertising like radio, television, and print.  People are still engaged in these mediums and they will give you the opportunity to tell your story and help create demand for your service.
There are multiple touch points and questions to ask to answer your question. I will try to give an high level overview, but there could be one to several "breaks"  in the chain.

1: what you are ranking for, there are keywords, keyword counts and  "buyer" keywords take a look at this sample: FIRST column is keyword and second column is monthly searches

san antonio dump 1,000 dumpster rental san antonio 720 junk removal near me 170 junk king san antonio 110 free junk removal san antonio 70 ramirez junk removal 30 mattress removal san antonio 20 furniture disposal san antonio 20
So, looking at this example if you rank for keywords with low counts in the searches then you need a lot of them to equal a good amount of searches to reach a volume level to have a good flow of leads, also you have keywords that are from a lot of "tire kickers", people that are just looking for information and "buyer" keywords, people that need your services NOW. That could be a huge difference...

2: The second issues could be your lead handling. Such things as
a: Voice mails, time to answer, call back timing, how you answer the phone
b: your quote handling, professional looking quotes
c: billing, ease of pay, etc

3: Trust Factor, do you have enough of the right kind of recommendations?
4: How do you look? your trucks, equipment, personal professionalism?

These are just a few of some of the many things that could be missing. Also, how aggressive are you pursuing contracts with companies that could provide a steady flow of business? You have to be extra sharp to land those type contracts and be prepared to give customized client processing, like billing, call handling, etc.

Hope this helps some....

If your ads are getting seen but you are getting no leads or click-throughs, the problem sounds quite simple. It's possible you don't have the right message. That could be, as Stephanie below suggested, a keyword issue. But usually, if an advertiser---large or small--gets awareness and no takers, it makes sense that they're not saying the right thing to move people closer to purchase. I'd go back to your strategy and take another look at how you have positioned your service and what benefit you offer, others don't. Easier said than done, I know. But it is worth looking at if what you are 'saying' to people isn't compelling or motivating enough to turn them into leads.

Hi Al,

I specialize in construction / renovation marketing. I did a quick check and you are set up well. If I were handling your marketing I would be networking with contractors, property management companies, realtors, landlords and placing ads in community groups. Its possible that the keywords used are not lining up with what your audience is using. I would also take a look at your competitors to see what is working or not working for them. Good luck!
Hi Al,

You have a nice site and great Google reviews; nice job on that! It looks like you are not listed in Google Maps for some key important words. For example I googled "pick up my trash" (Hays County) and not only are you not in the first 3 listings(what we call the 3 pack), you are not listed at all! You need to get some help with your local Google presence and make sure that all keywords that your prospects use are optimized for your site. Some of the tactics would include getting local citations for your business and getting all the keywords into your website content. Targeting realtors and apartment complexes seem like good strategies as well.
Are you searching for yourself in google? That can give you false results as well as other search methods. Just because you are #1 does not mean you have appropriate call to actions implemented or good reviews. One of the biggest problems my team see all the time are websites that give a horrible user experience. Just because you are in love with the site does not mean your ideal client is. Speaking of ideal client are they using google, yelp, bing? You could be appealing to clients who only use word of mouth or other. Send me a link to your business and any other questions and I will see what I come up with.
You have a great opportunity with those position. What you need to do is present a compelling offer that would drive your visitors to your landing page to receive the offer. They would enter their name, email address and the cell phone. You would then have the opportunity to remain in contact with them, converting them into a customer. Offer them what they are not being offered and they become your customers.
