Realtors, what type of closing gifts do you normally do?

For my buyers, I give a gift card to Lowes or HomeDepot. For sellers, I match a gift to their lifestyle.

Depends on the client and depends on the deal. Anywhere from gift baskets, champagne along with a big box of Sees Candies or Godiva Chocolates,cut-co or gift cards.

I think that clients remember me because of good service and my personal qualities. If the client does not feel happy after the transaction is completed, then no gifts will help. Sometimes, to my surprise, I get presents and postcards from former clients. I think only gifts from the heart are valuable, and not for business.

I listen to my clients during the transaction process.  They will give clues if you pay attention.  Example:  1st time homebuyers said they couldn't wait to move in and make breakfast, but, they needed to get a waffle maker.  Guess what they got? Yep, a waffle maker.  They were thrilled.  Another client admired an unusual flowering vine at one of the houses we viewed.  We spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what it was.  I took a picture and took that the my local nursery.  They had the plant in stock, wrapped the pot in burlap, and made it look really nice.  I find they appreciate the gift more when they know you listened to what their likes are.

I give gifts according to the person and/or deal.  It can be a gift card, cutting boards, maybe art, to bottle of Champagne which includes the champagne glasses and chocolates. 

I either use gift cards, Popcorn Factory, or Gift Tree depending on price of home and referral

We believe a closing gift should be memorable and have shelf life.  Food and drink are too easily forgotten.  Staying within IRS guidelines is also something to consider.  There are ways of providing a marketing item that does both.  

Gourmet food gift basket and/or bottle of wine.

I usually give a large gift basket of fruit and different cheeses or a bottle of champagne. Sellers and Buyers will remember you.

I give the buyers a "Cutco" Pizza Cutter and a gift card to a local Pizza Shop. If they are buying a home that they are going to start by remodeling I will give them a gift card to Menards or Home Depot.
