Realtors, what type of closing gifts do you normally do?
I own Cole & Bennett Modern Gift Baskets and we're launching card services, a new line of realtor closing, list and mini referral thank you gifts. Wondering what you are doing now and if you feel its effective.

I like a monogrammed door mat, cutco knife with my info, a grill set, maybe a little something for the pet if they have one, If they are new to town I may get some gift cards to local restaurants and collect brochures from various places to get them acquainted with the area. I have also given a couple move in day cleaning baskets with some necessities,
I am an introverted REALTOR.....Parties are not comfortable for me. Yes I do give closing gifts to 90% of my clients. I always look for something personal to who they are. If they aren't getting a 'closing' gift it's because I've forfeited something of value (money) already and they usually know. ~Sherry
Closing Gifts.. we do give closing gifts.. one of our favorite is the Scentsy warmers and the bars.. they do a Welcome Home Warmer that seems to please all our clients.. and because we also have repeat clients we do a very nice insulated stainless steel drink holder with our logo on it.. and we also do wine glasses with the Lake of the Ozarks etched into them with nice bottle of wine. We do a gift back that is personalized for all our gifts to be used for taking towels and sunscreen to the lake and while out boating.. I feel closing gifts are very important with each transaction.
I usually give closing gifts and also drop off gifts at Christmas time. Closing gifts are personalized to my buyers. May be Welcome Mat, Gift Baskets with items common to this area, Gardening books if new to this area, gift cards if work to be done on house they purchase, etc. Cost varies based on price of house purchased. I believe the thoughtfulness is appreciated and effective.
The best gift you can give someone that you helped incur the largest debt in their life is a way to help them make those payments easier, build equity faster, own their home earlier and save THOUSANDS in unnecessary mortgage interest. The GemCap Equity Building System™ does that and you can earn commissions for offering it. It is also the perfect marketing tool for a database.
I like giving my clients a closing gifts. Depending on the client on what I give. I've ordered door mats with their name or initial. If the house needs some work, a gift card to Lowe's or Home Depot. I'm also a Thirty One Consultant, so I will order a large utility tote with their first names or last name, and fill it with paper goods so it's handy on moving day.
Working with the client until you close, you begin to feel as your family. You know more about them then there family may so I go with personal gifts touched by a bottle of wine. I dont buy bulk of the same gift to every client but go with something they need such as a microwave or toaster. If they dont need anything I perhaps take picture of them in front of the new home but then prior to close and unaware of what I am doing will get a nice clear drink coaster to where I can insert that picture. There pretty cool and inexpensive which is kinda the same as a picture in just a frame. But everyone in this world prolly has a picture within a frame but do they have a coaster with a picture and of them in front of their new home? Probably not and wouldn't bet on it. Until you given it which to me brings the personal touch and possibly repeat business down the road as most definitely the referrals. Small things in life bring the biggest results all around! Hope this has helped and always here if needed..
Of course, I always give Dorito's to all my clients.
I have an inactive real estate salesperson license so have never bought/sold like the rest of y'all, only relocation and inventory management.
I was talking to several of our teammates though and they had well-thought out inexpensive gifts like tools for new home-owners, etc. rather than cookies 'n cocoa, etc.
But other than that, not much experience...thanks for asking...byoung
Closing gifts to either buyers or sellers are always appreciated. If first time buyers sometimes a one year home warranty as it provides peace of mind. Beautiful photo frames, a move in basket filled with cleaning items and a gift certificate to a restaurant for the family. Sometimes a photo of the home they sold for the sellers. Everything you do depends on your clients. Choose wisely.
