Group members, quick note from the host.

If you run a bar, restaurant, brewery, or hospitality business, I’ve got one question I’m tracking across markets.

Right now, is your bigger opportunity better customers, or more customers?

If you want to answer privately, comment "BETTER" or "MORE," and I’ll message you.

No pitch, I’m just comparing notes.

I think for us personally more customers would change everything for us. This far everyone we’ve come in contact with that has ordered our food has been amazing. Kind, happy loved our food but we need more customers. More constant amount of people every single time. It would truly change our lives. I love the people we attract but we just want to attract more.

Well said, Jinny. The "my door is open" part is the whole game. Most places lose people for a dull reason: nothing ever brought them back. The food was fine, the room was fine, and then months went by. If you already treat everyone as welcome to return, the piece that tends to be missing is a simple way to reach them again on a slow night. You have the hard part handled, which is more than most operators can say.

Good question, Steve. My honest take is better customers first, then more of them. More traffic on a shaky experience just scales the problems, but once regulars come back on their own you have something worth pouring fuel on. The owners I see winning right now spend less chasing new faces and more on making the second and third visit effortless, easy reordering, remembering what someone likes, a real reason to come back. Get that tight and the more customers part gets a lot cheaper.
For me, it’s better customers. Quality over quantity always leads to stronger long-term growth and better experiences overall.

Better customers become regular customers. I create an experience for return customers.
