How Can I Get My Website To Appear In A Google Search?

I am on my third website change. I have not been able to get my website to come up when I do different searches in Google.

What needs to be done to make this happen?

I am not great with computer related lingo so please keep your replies simple. Thank you.

You didn't ask about being on the first page of Google. You asked about having your pages show on Google, so I'll give a bit of a different answer, sharing from something I learned the hard way.

I'm not a "techie" but I did learn a valuable lesson. One of my sites ranking had been lowered, and it wasn't showing up in searches either. I learned about Google Search Console and found out only 14 of my pages - out of over 3,000 were indexed correctly - so Google wasn't even finding them!

Turns out the sitemap was bad. Once a new/correct sitemap was provided, pages immediately started getting indexed. I would encourage you to start there, see what errors are listed - so you can then fix those and get found on Google.

Hope that helps - it did for me!

Our company has been doing SEO since 2009 and it is not easy to get a site to rank organically. Google changes the rules as soon as we figure them out. However there are core items that will never change. When people go to your site they need to find great content that causes them to stay on there, You want an easy to navigate site so you can engage the visitors and have them take action. Those are 2 MUST HAVES. Getting a video on your site is an excellent way to help with both of these core items.

Writing a blog consistently (we write ours 3 times a week) helps give you and your site more authority. You can become the expert in your marketing niche. Each blog post that you write is a digital asset that stays online forever and can drive traffic and backlinks to your pages on the site. Your content is like compound interest. Each one builds on all the others and over time this is a great way to help get your site to rank.

Of course one of the best ways is to do paid ads with Google AdWords. Most people are afraid of doing this because they have heard all the horror stories with doing it. The truth is a well run campaign can bring almost instant traffic and new business to you. The ROI is usually pretty high when the campaign is implemented properly. Here is a tip: most poor campaigns that lose money are poorly set up, don't use the BEST keywords and send the traffic to the website home page which is almost always a bad decision.

We are also highly skilled in AdWords and would be happy to discuss that or SEO with you.

Our website is http://MilesInternetMarketing.com. When you visit the site after 7 seconds on the homepage you will be treated to one of our secret weapons. We have married video with a chat session to help engage each visitor and turn them into customers. When the chat session is complete when send a transcript to our clients and we have captured all the information about the visitor they could hope to have. We get a very high rate of collecting real e-mails, phone numbers and the REASON they visited your site. So when you follow up you have the info to ask the perfect set of questions.

Hi Doris!

Without getting technical, as there are companies dedicated to this, there are a few things you can do easily and quickly:

Submit your website to Google (after you've completed your redesign): https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/submit-url...

Set up (or claim) your Yelp business page:
http://biz.yelp.com

Set up or claim your business on Google maps:
http://Google.com/MyBusiness

Other accounts you can set up and link to your website are:

Facbook
Twitter
LinkedIn account
Hotfrog
Manta
and of course... Alignable

One of the most important things in all of this is that you ensure that your website is linked to each of these accounts and that all of the contact information is correct.

Dorris as an online marketing firm I work with businesses daily who've experienced the same issue as you and to be honest there is no one single answer as to why you're not showing for the search phrases you are trying.

However, here are some of the most common things I typically see that might help you.

* If you have changed domains, phone numbers, addresses, etc often times we find old or conflicting information listed in online business directories and/or profile pages. Although this can be a very time consuming process you can actually fix this yourself by searching for your business in places like Yelp, Bing, Google+, Facebook, etc. If you have a listing be sure to claim it, then optimize as much as possible with a full description, business hours, logo and link them back to your site.

* No keyword research was conducted to develop what is commonly referred to as your keyword cloud. It's important to keep in mind that sometimes a single keyword can be much harder to rank for if it is very specific or if you are in a very competitive market, so try to include some 2-4 word phrases.

* Lack of keyword rich (not keyword stuffed) content that is written in a conversational tone, that is informative, helpful and engaging. A good rule of thumb to follow when writing content for your web pages is to focus on one or two keywords per page and DO NOT make the mistake of ranting on about how great you are. Generally speaking most people don't care about how great you are they care about how you can help or benefit them in some way.

* Missing On-Page SEO such as individual page titles that are unique and include the keyword the page is focusing on. Others we commonly see are missing or duplicate meta descriptions and images that are missing alt tags.

Again, there could be many different reasons and it's probably a good idea to talk with a good reputable SEO consultant that is independent. In most cases, a good SEO consultant will offer to audit your site, your overall online presence and a free consultation.

I hope you and others have found this helpful and please reach out to me directly if you would like to know more. I'm always happy to help.

Hey there! It's easy if you have a store front or a physical address . https://www.google.com/business/

try to see if you already have an existing google plus page by searching for it, and if you don't see one, you can follow the steps by entering in your basic profile information.

however, the step a lot of my clients miss out on is failing to VERIFY their listing once they create it.

When you submit your listing, Google will confirm that is in fact your physical address by sending a postcard to the mailing address you list when you're building out the profile. The postcard they send to you has a blue verification code you will need to REENTER into your google listing.

It sounds more complicated than it really is. There are over 100 search engines, and each one has its own specific process for listing/claiming/verifying businesses online.

It takes us about 4-6 weeks to get through them all, but SO worth it in the end.

Hope this helps.

SEO is my business, and I am extremely good at it, so I'll tell you the truth.

Relying on your Website to get on page 1 of Google is not going to turn out well. I don't understand how people can believe that doing something to your Website will impress Google so much that they will grant you a page 1 position. There are probably thousands of things Google looks at to assign rankings.

Every one of our customers get 15, 30 or 50 keywords on page 1 of Google in less than 30 days and before they pay us anything. The shocking news is that we do absolutely nothing to their Website. I couldn't care less if the site is optimized or not. Our only requirement for a customer is that they must have a Website because we need to be able to send traffic somewhere.

Google makes over 200 changes annually to it's ranking method, and it is a closely guarded secret. NOBODY knows what they do, and even if you did, the information would be obsolete within a week.

Here is one of my customers with FOUR keywords that are ALL TEN POSITIONS on page 1 of Google. Some of those also have positions on Page 2:

Here we are in New York City with a keyword having over 1 MILLION competing Web pages. We are the TOP SIX positions on page 1 and #3 has been there since January, 21 2015:

My best advice is not to try it yourself and deal with a company that has a proven track record of search engine ranking success.

Ok, I have sort of a different answer from everyone. Forget getting your business to page 1 on Google when people search for Reiki in London Ontario.

Before you call me crazy, let me explain.

People behave a certain way when they are ready to spend their money on a specific product or service. They consume certain content, they have specific likes, and they visit specific websites. Target knew this years ago (start reading at about half way) and put it to use with great success. It's called psychograpic data, and thanks to social media, it's more readily available than ever.

Instead, you need to show up when people are doing those searches. There's a company called FullContact that you can use to start gathering that data. Then, create content based around that data on your site's blog. Utilize a solid content distribution strategy that includes social media to get people to find that content. Make sure you're grabbing their email addresses when they visit by using a good lead funnel strategy. Above all, have patience.

Feel free to contact me if you need any help figuring things out.

Hi I asked the same question years ago when I first went into business. Everyone I talked to said they would get me on Google's first page. But, the key is (which they do not tell you) it will cost a lot of money. I can tell you I ranked fist on Google with not just one keyword but with many keywords. So, to help struggling businesses I wrote a short read book that tells you what to do to get traffic to your website. It is on Amazon.com it is low cost at 1.99 you can contact me for information and a free quote of what it will cost you if you decide to use a consultant.
